Job Description - Dialysis Technician Trainee

Your Training Path

As a Dialysis Technician Trainee, you’ll launch your career by learning from experienced clinicians while supporting safe, high‑quality hemodialysis care for patients with ESRD. This role exists to build your skills so treatments run smoothly, accurately, and with compassion.

Key responsibilities include:
- Welcome patients and record pre‑treatment data (weight, temperature, blood pressure, pulse) in the EMR (e.g., Clarity)
- Review dialysis orders, observe patient condition, and document findings
- Assist with initiating/monitoring/ending treatments per training and RN direction; respond to machine alarms
- Collect blood specimens/cultures as ordered; perform vital signs monitoring and basic phlebotomy
- Set up, clean, and disinfect dialysis equipment; complete water/chlorine testing and supply tasks
- Follow OSHA, HIPAA, infection control, and quality assurance standards; provide patient education

Required:
- High School diploma/GED; current CPR
- CCHT (Bonent/NNCC) not required to start (you have 18 months to obtain required certification)
- CNA/EMT/Home Health Aide preferred; dialysis/clinical lab experience preferred

If you’re ready to grow with a supportive team, apply today.

Benefits That Matter

We offer Medical, Dental, and Vision coverage, plus Life Insurance and a 401(k) to help you plan ahead. You’ll also receive Paid Time Off and a competitive hourly rate of $18.00–$21.00.

A Typical Shift

You’ll work onsite at Fox Valley Dialysis (Aurora) for training and Tri-Cities Dialysis (Geneva) once independent, on rotating shifts—mornings, afternoons, or evenings—Monday through Saturday, with occasional overtime or holiday coverage. Your day starts by getting oriented with the schedule and checking in with the clinical team so you know who you’ll be learning alongside. Between patient arrivals and treatment windows, you’ll move through the unit, staying organized, updating documentation in real time, and keeping communication clear and calm. You’ll also make time to ask questions, get feedback, and build confidence as you develop skills in dialysis care and patient support in a fast-paced, high-performance setting.
