Job Description
- Overview:
- Set up and operate die-cutting equipment (e.g., Bobst, Iberica, Heidelberg) to cut and crease folding carton jobs according to specifications.
- Read and interpret job tickets, CAD layouts, and customer requirements to ensure proper tooling and materials are used.
- Install and align cutting dies, stripping tools, and blanking units for efficient production.
- Monitor production runs for quality, ensuring precise registration, clean cuts, and accurate creasing.
- Troubleshoot machine and tooling issues to minimize downtime and scrap.
- Conduct quality checks on finished cartons to confirm compliance with structural and print requirements.
- Perform preventive maintenance and routine adjustments to ensure reliable machine performance.
- Collaborate with press operators, gluer operators, and production supervisors to ensure smooth workflow and on-time deliveries.
- Record production data, waste, and downtime accurately.
- Adhere to company safety policies and maintain a clean, organized work area.
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in printing/packaging preferred.
- 2+ years of experience as a die cutter operator, ideally in folding carton or packaging.
- Proficiency with flatbed die cutting machines (Bobst experience highly preferred).
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and make adjustments.
- Knowledge of carton converting processes (cutting, creasing, stripping, blanking).
- Ability to read and interpret job tickets, CAD drawings, and specifications.
- High attention to detail, with a commitment to quality and accuracy.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- High-volume folding carton packaging production facility.
- Exposure to machinery, paperboard dust, inks, and noise.
- Requires personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to safety protocols
