POSITION TITLE: DIESEL FLEET SERVICE TECHNICIAN
PURPOSE: The purpose of this position is to provide safe, reliable, and cost-efficient vehicles by performing quality preventative maintenance inspections and repairs as well as performing expert diagnosis and repair as required to prevent breakdown on roads, reduce vehicle downtime and fleet reliability.

PAY RATE: __$29.00-31.00/hour_____________
HOURS/SCHEDULE: Full-Time,
Monday-Friday Start 7:00 PM Sunday Start 3:00 PM
DRESS CODE: Steel toe boots,
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for fleet preventative maintenance, repairs, and testing of vehicles and equipment
Plan, organize, direct, schedule, coordinate, and review fleet work orders for in-house and out-sourced repairs/maintenance
Maintain close communication with route scheduler and drivers
Coordinate the ordering, purchasing, stocking and inventory of vehicle and equipment parts
Perform complex and technical repairs
Ensure the appropriate and efficient use of annual assigned budget
Ensure record keeping is complete such repair and maintenance records, expenses, etc
Maintain technical knowledge regarding mandated regulatory requirements for fleet operations
Maintain safe work environment
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
CDL
ASE Certification for diesel mechanics or Certification from technical or trade school
WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in diesel and heavy equipment repair
Knowledge of principles and practices of fleet maintenance and repair
Knowledge and experience in repairing refrigeration units and refrigerant evacuation and recharge
Ability to analyze fleet repair, cost and recommend more cost-effective solutions
Ability to stay current regarding the latest trends and innovations in fleet repair
Ability to communicate clearly and consistently both orally and written
Clean driving record
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to lift more than 50 lbs.
Ability to sit, stand, walk, and bend for long periods of time
Couch, squat, step, kneel
Work in extreme temperature
Availability on call and after hours
