Diesel Mechanic

Reports To (Supervisor/Hiring Manager Title): Shop Supervisor

Onsite/Hybrid/Remote: Onsite

Position Overview/Job Description: The Diesel Mechanic at Taylor Express (a subsidiary of R&R Express) work to help ensure that we have a safe fleet on the road. This position will perform repairs and preventative maintenance on a variety of vehicles and assets. 

Responsibilities:

• Perform repairs and preventative maintenance on all assets
• Repair, diagnose, and troubleshoot engine systems including diesel exhaust (DEF) systems, diesel particulate (DPF) systems, transmission, differential, HVAC, electrical, hydraulic
• Perform repairs on chassis, driveline, brakes, steering, cooling system
• Utilize the shop computer for diagnostic and troubleshooting
• Perform DOT inspections on assets
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications: 

• Prior mechanic experience required, preferably heavy duty and/or diesel vehicles within a dealership or private truck shop
• Computer diagnostics experience is preferred
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Current driver’s license and acceptable MVR
• English-language proficiency 
• Authorized to work in the US
• Ability to work 8AM – 5PM, Monday-Friday with overtime as needed

Education Requirements: High School Diploma required. Technical college or other higher education experience is preferred.

Salary/Hourly Rate: Depending on experience

Bonus/Commission Eligible: Overtime available at time and half of hourly rate
