Job Description - Diesel Mechanic

Description

As a Diesel Mechanic in our Truck Shop, you will be working in our state-of-the-art facility on the company equipment. The equipment ranges from regular passenger vehicles, trucks/tractors, van trailers, tank trailers, landoll trailers, lowboys, forklifts, construction equipment, heavy equipment, etc. Maintenance within our facility includes tires, brakes, lights, oil changes, washing, welding, general repairs, hydraulic lines/pumps, PM services, etc.  Great pride is taken in our trucks and equipment, we are looking to add the right person to our current team to grow this department. 

Department: Truck Shop Repairs

Reports to: Single Department Supervisor

Hours: Monday – Friday, 40 hours/week (specific hours TBD), weekends and major Holidays off

Salary Status: Hourly 

Requirements

In order to thrive in this role, you must be able to:

  • Perform minor and major repairs to trucks and trailers
  • Repair and maintain tractors, lifts, diesel and gasoline engines by performing all regular scheduled maintenance and repairs, including fluid and filter changes, inspections, tire rotation, etc.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical malfunctions
  • Inspect fleet vehicles to ensure that all vehicles are DOT compliant 
  • Conduct field visits in the case of an emergency or sudden breakdown
  • Maintain accurate records of each repair performed on vehicles through work orders
  • Test drive repaired vehicles to gauge performance
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
  • Adhere to strict safe work practices to comply with all Company, DOT, and OSHA regulations
  • Adaptable to change on working assignments based on priority/instruction by management
  • Be a self-starter/self-motivated
  • Demonstrate a positive cooperative attitude at all times
  • The ability to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment
  • Have strong listening skills
  • Have a strong sense of humor
  • Have the ability, will, and want to come to work daily on time
  • Valid driver's license, CDL a plus
