Diesel Mechanic - C Tech

POSITION SUMMARY: The Diesel Mechanic – C Tech will work alongside our team of shop employees to maintain fleet vehicles/assets and increase the efficiency of Wabash Trucking’s maintenance department. 

REPORTS TO: Service Shop Supervisor 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Maintains a basic knowledge of a vehicle’s mechanical and electrical systems to perform preventative maintenance and repair functions.
• Vehicle preventative maintenance inspections and adjustments.
• Oil changes and fluids replenishment.
• Adjustments and light repairs including tire changes.
• Basic electrical work.
• Visual inspections to identify potential issues and identify the sources of malfunctions using a variety of tools.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned or apparent.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

• ASE Heavy Truck Certifications (T-1 through T-8) are a plus but not required.
• Valid Driver’s License required.

COMPETENCIES:

• Ability to visually diagnose mechanical issues. 
• Ability to read service and repair manuals.
• Ability to read work orders. 
• Ability to perform repairs in a timely manner. 
• Ability to complete required paperwork to document work and parts utilized.

Requirements

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Physical Activity: Talking, hearing, repetitive motion, stooping, crouching, standing, walking, lifting, and climbing stairs. 
• Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift 50 pounds at a time.  
• Must be able to work safely in a noisy area with many odors present. 
• Visual Acuity: ability to inspect repair work and determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned.
