Dietary Assistant Manager

North Shore Health is a 16 bed critical care hospital with a 37 bed long term care facility attached.

North Shore Health has an 80 hour per pay period position available in the Dietary Department for an Assistant Manager. The Dietary Assistant Manager performs a variety of tasks and works closely with residents/patients to ensure their dietary needs are met and to ensure that they receive the necessary support and guidance to make informed decisions about their food choices. Additionally, they maintain food safety standards, adhere to critical resident/patient dietary restrictions and work to enhance the overall quality of care provided to residents and patients of North Shore Health. Contributes to the goals of the department by assisting the Dietary Manager, the Registered Dietitian and other food service professionals. The Assistant Dietary Manager is required to work every other weekend and fill shifts as a Dietary Cook.

 

Key Responsibilities:

• Procure food and supplies for the dietary department and related areas
• Receive, inspect, and store deliveries; manage returns and vendor credits
• Collaborate on seasonal menus and resident-driven meal options
• Track food and supply costs to maintain budget compliance
• Conduct surveys to assess meal quality, variety, and service
• Use feedback to drive continuous improvement
• Assist in training and education of dietary staff
• Maintain a professional and courteous manners with patients, residents, and staff
• Apply principles of food safety, nutrition, and diet therapy
• Perform clerical duties for the dietary department
• Assist with planning and execution of special events

Minimum Education: High School Diploma

Experience preferred: Formal training in food service with courses in foods and nutrition.

Licensure/Certification/Registration: Education & certification as Certified Dietary Manager, Certified Food Protection Professional or ability to obtain certification in first year of holding the position.

Wage Range is $21.13 to $28.10 hourly
