Hourly Rate: $17.15/hour

The Diet Clerk is responsible for clerical duties related to maintaining menu systems and processing diet orders and diet changes for all residents. The diet clerk will perform duties in compliance with established policies and procedures. The diet clerk will participate in other basic nutrition services to residents and maintain quality improvement records. This position may be required to provide direct care or have access to resident property or belongings. 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Process diet orders and diet changes in Gerimenu software.
• Maintain all resident diet information, preferences and tray ticket information. Keep information current.
• Answer telephone, take messages and relay information as needed.
• Visit with residents and assist in obtaining completed menus.
• Communicate clearly to dietitians, managers and other staff members.
• Maintain confidentiality of resident information.
• Print tray tickets, food production sheets and beverage production sheets.
• Maintain resident seating charts for each required location.
• Do test trays and fill out evaluation forms as described.
• Print and distribute menus and diet listings as needed.
• Distribute, assist with recording and compiling resident satisfaction surveys.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

• Computer literate. (Microsoft Office) Ability to read and comprehend written and oral information. 
• Ability to write simple correspondence. 
• Must have the ability to present information, one-on-one and in small group situations, to residents and employees of the organization. 
• The ability to perform basic math calculations using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. 
• Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. 
• Ability to implement and follow systems related to the job. 
• Must have the ability to work independently and in a team environment. 
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to interact courteously and tactfully with staff, residents, family members, visitors, vendors and the general public. 

EDUCATION: 

•  Minimum high school graduate or equivalent. 

EXPERIENCE: 

•  A minimum of 3 years’ experience in clinical nutrition services or related fields.

Performing duties of this job requires prolonged standing and routine walking in resident care areas.  Must be able to occasionally lift loads of 30 pounds without assistance and the ability to sit, talk, and hear is required.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
