Abbington Of  Pickerington is seeking a skilled and compassionate Assisted Living Chef to join our team and enhance the dining experience for residents in our assisted living community. The ideal candidate will have a passion for creating delicious and nutritious meals while considering the unique dietary needs of seniors. As an Assisted Living Chef, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that our residents enjoy well-balanced and flavorful meals in a welcoming and social dining environment. 

This position is for day shift hours ranging 7am-7pm. Shifts are 12-13 hours with paid lunch and breaks. Salary Range from $22-30 per hour based on experience. We pay biweekly with merit based annual pay increases. Merit Based and referral bonuses are offered.

 Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Chef, preferably in a senior living or assisted living setting.
  • Ability to collaborate with interdisciplinary care teams, ensuring timely implementation of dietary needs in compliance with resident care plans.
  • Culinary degree or relevant certification.
  • Knowledge of dietary restrictions and special diets for seniors.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team.
  • Understanding of health and safety regulations in a food service environment.
  • Responsibility to our residents includes communicating with respect and empathy to preserve their dignity. 
  • Responsibility to fellow employees to collaborate and foster team work in our community.

Requirements

 We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Assisted Living Chef to join our team and enhance the dining experience for residents in our assisted living community. 

  Responsibilities:

  • Menu Planning: Develop and plan menus that cater to the dietary requirements and preferences of seniors, considering factors such as allergies, dietary restrictions, and special diets.
  • Meal Preparation: Prepare and cook a variety of meals using fresh and high-quality ingredients, ensuring nutritional value and presentation meet high standards.
  • Special Diets: Accommodate residents with special dietary needs, such as low-sodium, diabetic-friendly, or texture-modified diets, while maintaining flavor and appeal.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the dietary team, caregivers, and healthcare professionals to ensure a coordinated approach to resident nutrition and well-being.
  • Culinary Innovation: Stay updated on culinary trends and incorporate new and innovative recipes to keep the menu diverse and exciting for residents.
  • Quality Control: Monitor food quality, taste, and presentation to ensure consistency and high standards are maintained.
  • Nutritional Awareness: Educate staff and residents about the nutritional value of different foods and promote a healthy and balanced lifestyle.
  • Adherence to Regulations: Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, as well as food service guidelines, including proper food handling and storage procedures.
  • Dining Experience Enhancement: Work towards creating a positive and enjoyable dining experience for residents, considering the social and communal aspects of mealtime.
  • Flexibility: Adapt to changing dietary needs, preferences, and resident feedback, making adjustments to menus and meal plans as necessary.

Requirements

  1. Must have at least two years experience in culinary services for residential communities
  2. Must be willing to work 32 hours or more a week including weekends.
  3. Must be willing to submit to a background check.
  4. Must pass a preemployment physical.
  5. Demonstrate knowledge and compliance with regulatory standards (Medicaid, HIPAA, etc.) 
  6. Responsibility to follow Abbington company rules and organizational policies.
  7. Must be able to lift/carry up to 35 pounds regularly and push individuals who weigh up to 200 pounds in wheelchairs.
  8. Must be able to regularly use hands to finger, handle, or feel; stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk and hear.
