Duties for a Dietary Manager includes the following:
Confers and coordinates with consulting Registered Dietician.
Develops and implements department policies and procedures.
Determines quality and quantity of food required, including ordering of food and dietary supplies, plans menus and controls food costs.
Adheres to departmental budget.
Makes frequent inspections of all work, storage and serving areas to determine that the regulations and directions governing nutritional services activities are followed.
Develops job descriptions and job duties.
Ensures food preparation for optimal nutrition and economic handling of food, as well as efficient usage of time.
Maintains department in a clean, neat and organized manner.
Maintains current awareness of new legislation and regulations influencing the practice of stands of dietary care.
Retains responsibility for hiring dietary personnel.
Works with Human Resources for employee relations issues.
Ensures dietary personnel are properly trained in job duties.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualified candidates should have the following:
Servsafe Manager certification
GED or High School Diploma
Must be 21 years of age or older
Must have at least 1-year commercial cooking experience preferably in a healthcare setting
Exhibit professional and courteous attitude to fellow co-workers, patients and visitors at all times.
Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move a minimum of 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distant, and peripheral vision, color and depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The employee may occasionally be required to physically restrain clients, using authorized restraint procedures as a last resort for protection of client and staff.
