Overview






Abacus Technology is seeking a Digital Imaging and Production Systems Specialist to provide imaging support for the Office of the CIO (OCIO) at Johnson Space Center.  This is a full-time position.









Responsibilities






  • Process and convert digital image files from RAW (NEF) format to production-ready JPEG and other required formats (including ARTEMIS mission support during flight).
  • Perform image correction, color management, retouching, and optimization using Adobe Photoshop and related applications.
  • Upload, organize, and maintain imagery within JSC’s internal imagery website.
  • Maintain image archives, file structures, metadata, and storage systems to ensure long-term accessibility and integrity.
  • Track work requests, production status, and project completion using established workflow management procedures.
  • Ensure consistency of file naming conventions, image standards, and digital asset management practices.
  • Operate HP large-format inkjet printers and associated production equipment.
  • Mount printed graphics and photographic products to various substrates.
  • Operate and maintain Kongsberg automatic cutting systems for precision finishing and production.
  • Inspect finished products to ensure quality standards and customer requirements are met.
  • Perform routine maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of large-format inkjet printers and finishing equipment.
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware and software-related production issues.
  • Coordinate repairs, replacement parts, and vendor support when necessary.
  • Maintain production equipment documentation, maintenance schedules, and service records.
  • Monitor equipment performance and recommend upgrades or process improvements.
  • Administer and support workstation hardware, software, and peripheral devices used in imaging and production operations.
  • Implement and maintain IT security updates, operating system patches, and software upgrades on Government Funded Equipment (GFE).
  • Troubleshoot network connectivity, user access, storage systems, and production software issues.
  • Manage equipment inventory, procurement support, and asset tracking.
  • Coordinate installation, configuration, and deployment of new hardware and software.
  • Maintain system documentation and ensure compliance with organizational IT policies and security requirements.








Qualifications






Associate’s degree in IT, graphic communications, digital imaging, photography, or a related field.  Equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for degree requirements.  Experience with digital image processing and large format print production.  Experience operating and maintaining HP large format inkjet printing systems.  Working knowledge of computer hardware, operating systems, networking, and systems administration.  Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud, including Photoshop and Illustrator, and MS365.  Experience with Kongsberg automatic cutting systems, digital asset management and image archiving systems; Windows-based workstations and peripheral devices; and networked production environments.  Experience with professional photography workflows and RAW image processing preferred.  Knowledge of color profiling and color management systems desired.  Experience supporting production environments that integrate creative software, printing equipment, and IT infrastructure preferred.  Experience with Python or PowerShell coding a plus.  Able to lift and move print media, mounting materials, and equipment components as required.  Able to stand for extended periods while operating production equipment.  Able to triage equipment issues and perform maintenance and troubleshooting in a production environment.  Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.  Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.  Able to manage multiple projects concurrently and effectively prioritize workload.  Must be a US citizen.
