Pawnee Behavioral Health is seeking a dedicated Dining Service Coordinator / Cook to support our mission of providing quality, holistic behavioral health and substance use recovery services. In this role, you’ll contribute to the overall well-being of our clients by preparing and serving nutritious meals that promote healing in a respectful, welcoming environment.
What You’ll Do:
Prepare and serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner in alignment with dietary guidelines and client-specific needs
Coordinate with the Dietitian to plan menus and order food based on census and dietary requirements
Monitor and document all food, refrigerator, freezer, and water temperatures daily
Maintain a clean, sanitary kitchen environment including dishes, surfaces, floors, and storage areas
Ensure compliance with Oklahoma food safety regulations and internal protocols
Assist with meal service, table clearing, and fostering a supportive dining atmosphere
Report observed changes in client behavior or physical condition to the clinical team
Perform additional food service or housekeeping duties as assigned
What You Bring:
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively with others
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with compassion for clients in recovery
Comfortable reading and following recipes, menus, and health & safety protocols
Required: Oklahoma Food Handler’s Permit and ServeSafe certification or willingness to obtain both within 30 days of hire
Preferred: 1+ year experience in institutional, healthcare, or residential food service
Preferred: Familiarity with sanitation practices and dietary accommodations
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs frequently and occasionally up to 50 lbs
Requires standing and walking for extended periods (up to 8 hours)
Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, and pushing/pulling of food carts
Ability to tolerate exposure to heat, noise, steam, and cleaning chemicals in a kitchen environment
Working Conditions:
This position works within a licensed behavioral health facility and must follow all confidentiality and infection control protocols
Requires flexibility for weekend and holiday shifts as needed
May occasionally be exposed to stressful situations or emotionally challenging interactions with clients
