Job Description - Direct Care Staff Supervisor

Job Purpose


Responsible for the direct supervision of all Direct Care staff (Monitors, Count Room, Transportation, and Medication Technicians) and the Assistant Direct Care Staff Supervisor with oversight by the TDCJ Program Director. Assist the TDCJ Program Director in maintaining accuracy of residential count and resident locations. To ensure efficient operations of the residential program according to proper policies and procedures.



Job Description



  • Oversee the supervision of the Direct Care Staff and ensure compliance with rules and regulations.

  • Enforce all rules, regulations, and policies for all Direct Care Staff.

  • Oversee scheduling to ensure adequate staffing at the facility in accordance with required staffing ratios.

  • Be available at all times when on shift to assist with any disciplinary situations that may arise with residents and/or other house emergencies.

  • Facilitate the disciplinary process as needed with Direct Care Staff.

  • Complete all performance evaluations for Direct Care Staff.

  • Conduct investigations on client grievances concerning Direct Care Staff issues, as assigned by the Quality Assurance Coordinator.

  • Monitor the sign-in and sign-out procedures in the count room and on the count room boards.

  • Communicate all resident problems, inappropriate behaviors, or confrontations to the TDCJ Program Director.

  • Comply with all staff conduct policies and report any inappropriate behavior from residents or staff to the TDCJ Program Director.

  • Maintain high standards of care for all clients consistent with TDCJ Contract and Program Code of Ethics.

  • Maintain client confidentiality in accordance with Federal Confidentiality laws and BVCASA policies and procedures.

  • Know whereabouts of all clients while on duty, enforcing curfews and regulations.

  • Ensure accurate records of client contacts (employer, pass info, etc.)

  • Attend and participate in all staff meetings, leadership team meetings, and other meetings as needed.

  • Notify TDCJ staff on call and/or proper authorities in case of an emergency according to policies and procedures.

  • Ensure the accuracy and maintenance of transportation documentation.

  • Ensure prompt reporting of all maintenance issues regarding all company owned or leased vehicles used by the residential services to TDCJ Program Director and Director of Finance as soon as issues are identified to ensure repairs are made swiftly.

  • Any other duties as assigned by the TDCJ Program Director or Executive Director in order to ensure compliance and efficient operations of the facility and program.



Qualifications, Skills, and Requirements



Qualifications


Graduation from an accredited high school, or GED equivalent.  At least three years’ experience in a TTC or similar facility, with increasing levels of responsibility preferred.  Supervisory experience and demonstrated leadership strongly preferred.



Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities


Ability to establish rapport with clients and family members.


Must communicate a respectable attitude towards others.


Must be able to implement House expectations, policies and procedures with respect and authority.


Ability to follow and enforce policies and procedures, and ensure compliance with rules.


Bilingual (Spanish and English) capabilities are preferred, but not required.


Willingness to receive and to respond positively to supervision.


Experience with clients in criminal justice system helpful. Must have valid driver’s license.


Ability to represent BVCASA with a positive image.


Must have a high standard of professional ethics and integrity with all clients, within the community and with BVCASA personnel.


Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, organizations and the general public.



Other Requirements


Reliable transportation and telephone required. If a recovering chemically dependent individual, must be in recovery a minimum of one year and actively working a program of recovery. Must complete training for CPR and First Aid Certificates (or provide proof of current certification) and complete required new hire and annual training within established timeframes.
