Direct Support Professional (DSP) - Day Program (Bronx)

AHRC New York City is seeking Full-Time Direct Support Professionals (DSP) for their Bronx Day Program. 

Pay Rate: $17-20.20 per hour....in addition, this position comes with a very generous and comprehensive benefit package...see Benefit information below.

• Starting Rate: $17 per hour

• After 6 Months: Increases to $18 per hour (if in good standing)

• Bonuses (depending on driving status & program placement):

  • $2,000 annually upon completion and passing of AHRC Defensive Driving class

  • $2,000 annually upon completion of AMAP training

Schedule - Monday - Friday 8:30am to 3:30pm.

Responsibilities:

• Work with participants by assisting them to learn and develop social skills, daily living skills and habits.
• Accompany participants to appointments, community outings, and other activities.
• Complete progress notes and make entries into the daily log book.

• Personal and/or Professional experience working with individuals with disabilities is preferred.
• Drivers License for more than one year in good standing preferred
• Ability to communicate both orally and in written form in English.
• Knowledge of Home and Community Based Waiver, and the ability to keep up to date pertaining to such knowledge, and interpret same.
• Understanding of Person Centered Planning.
• Ability to establish and maintain a working relationship with program participants, families, staff and community agencies.
• High School diploma or GED is required.
