As a DSP, you’ll work one-on-one with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (ID/DD), supporting daily routines, community involvement, and personal goals in a way that is engaging, respectful, and empowering.

What You’ll Do
- Support daily routines (cooking, cleaning, personal care with the client)
- Help clients get into the community and stay engaged
- Follow care plans and goals
- Communicate with families and your team
- Complete notes and documentation
- Ensure safety and well-being at all times

Current Clients Needing Additional Support
Client 1 (SW Portland):
- Female | 8 yrs | 97219
- Schedule: Summer Schedule: Mon/wed/fri 2 pm-5 pm Tues/Thurs 9 am-3pm
- Likes: Loves dogs, time with family, her figurine toys, her bean bag and trampoline, babies and disney princesses, race cars
- Needs: Female DSP preferred. Use visual schedules, use timers; allow her to set the timer, use first/then language and structure. Be strong, assertive and funny. Be athletic and hyperactive and able to match her level of activity. The goofier the better.
Client 2 (SW Portland):
- Female | 11 yrs | 97219
- Schedule: Looking for help 9:30 -3:00 pm Mon-Sat
- Needs: Someone that has flexibility, is compassionate, has experience with neurodivergence, is reliable and professional.
Client 3 (SW Portland):
- Female | 22 yrs | 97239
- Schedule: Prefers shorter shifts, not early morning hours. Weekday late afternoons. Weekends are more flexible but prefers help in the afternoon/evening. Clients family prefers a DSP who can be very flexible on their schedule with this client. The hours will likely not be the same every week
- Likes: Her family, education, her computer, math
- Needs: Help with transportation, step by step instructions, completing paper work and helping her understand fuctionaily and how different things work. Wants to become more independent at home and in the community and wants to learn more about world and local events by reading the newspaper
Client 4 (SW Portland):
- Male | 10 yrs | 97219
- Schedule: Weekends - timing is flexible. Family would prefer someone who they can call upon when needing support. Would be pretty regular weekend shifts but not all the time
- Likes: This client loves minecraft, his parents, being in nature, art, toys, food choice, sonice and/or anime and talking about birds and bugs
- Needs: He is working on increasing indepedence with daily living skills such as dressing, shoes and other ADLs. He is also working on regulating emotions, improving transitions and safely interacting with children/adults in the community and around streets or vehicles. He wants to develop meaningful relationships with others in his age group and participate in community events
Requirements
- 18+ years old
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1+ year of caregiving or related experience
- Valid driver’s license, insurance, and reliable transportation
- Smartphone required
- Must be able to successfully pass all state-required background checks and meet all ODDS employment eligibility requirements.
- CPR/First Aid/AED (or willing to obtain)
