Job Description - Direct Support Supervisor - Supervised

Position: Direct Support Supervisor (DSS)  


Program Area: Supervised       


Position Opens:  05/29/2024



Position Description: The Direct Support Supervisor (DSS) leads a team of Direct Support Professionals (DSP) to support and assist individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to develop and enhance basic living skills and other life skills, promoting independence and individual choice.


 


Job duties include:



  • Responsible for coordinating, implementing, and evaluating individual program plans and maintaining records in compliance with NHTC and state/federal regulations.

  • Hire, train, and supervise DSPs in the completion of job responsibilities.

  • Responsible for the orientation and evaluation of residential staff. (i.e., progressive discipline and staff development) as well as securing records confidentially.

  • Responsible for the implementation of all policies, procedures, and programs.

  • Attend, participate in, and monitor/review all team meetings.

  • Attend and participate in agency standing committee meetings and training.

  • Ensure timely submission of required paperwork.

  • Ensure residences are maintained and meet regulatory requirements.

  • Must complete and ensure that all staff complete mandatory training in a timely manner.

  • Models and performs all aspects of Individuals’ program plans and ensures staff understands and implements each individual’s plan as written using a Person-Centered approach.

  • Able to be on-call to respond to and address emergencies, including incidents, safety hazards, and staffing issues.

  • Facilitates communications with other departments to ensure comprehensive and high-quality support.

  • Reviews documents on Therap, including checklists, t-logs, and medical information daily, and addresses problems as they arise.

  • Conducts record reviews to ensure compliance and identify potential problems to be resolved.

  • Develops and maintains relationships with family members/advocates of the individuals and addresses concerns as they arise.

  • Work schedules and locations are subject to change based on the needs of the department.

  • Performs other related duties assigned.



Qualifications:    



  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record

  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

  • Ability to manage a diverse staff; be a self-starter who requires minimal supervision; demonstrate high energy and commitment to long hours as necessary to perform the duties of the position.

  • Demonstrated leadership skills relative to training employees and people supported in a residential setting.

  • Experience with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (I/DD)

  • Previous management experience preferred.



Pay Rate:  $23.81/hour (salaried)



Hours:  Monday- Friday, and as needed. (Summer Hours: Monday-Thursday 8:00 AM-5:00 PM, and 8:00AM-12:00AM on Friday)
