Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta seeks a strategic and collaborative leader to serve as Director, Behavioral Mental Health Outpatient Operations. This position offers an exciting leadership opportunity at one of the largest and foremost children's healthcare systems in the U.S.
Reporting to the Vice President, Behavioral and Mental Health, the Director, Behavioral and Mental Health (BMH) Outpatient Operations is responsible for the delivery and success of the overall, system-wide portfolio of ambulatory behavioral and mental health initiatives.
This leader will provide direct operational, strategic and financial leadership as well as effective management and accountability for the daily operations of Children’s Behavioral and Mental Health multi-year plan across all campuses.
The director will oversee and lead the implementation of the plan in collaboration with Vice President Behavioral and Mental Health, Division Chief, system leaders and medical directors. They will work in partnership with internal and external stakeholders to ensure strategically focused, high-quality services are delivered to patients, families, and employees. They will be charged with preparing for and participating in senior level discussions regarding strategic and operational direction for Behavioral and Mental Health services.
Experience
- Minimum of 8-10 years of practice operations or healthcare operations experience; proven experience leading a high performing team
- Experience in managing and leading healthcare operations in an ambulatory setting
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience as a clinician in behavioral and mental health (licensure type and practice setting agnostic)
- Experience in managing and leading business operations in a behavioral or mental health care delivery setting
- Master’s degree in related field
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in related field

Job Responsibilities
- Oversees and leads the implementation of Children’s Behavioral and Mental Health multi-year plan in collaboration with accountable leaders.
- Keeps senior management informed with detailed and accurate reports or presentations.
- Tracks and monitors performance against the plan (quality, patient experience, financial and operational).
- Supervises a team to provide feedback and resolve complex problems.
- Serves as a member of the Behavioral and Mental Health governance structure to ensure clear accountability, issue management, and communication among program stakeholders.
- Works through others and delivers specific components of the plan.
- Achieves the goals and outcomes identified in the plan.
- Provides updates on both operational and financial performance against the plan.
- Produces routine updates and materials for Boards and Donors.
