Director, Clinical Services
The Director, Clinical Services oversees the clinical respiratory program ensuring the appropriate level of care is being provided to the patient. Primarily responsible for directing the overall functions of Clinical Services; coordinate and supervise operations of the department; administer services and respiratory devices as prescribed by a referring physician; and maintain performance improvement activities within the department. Assure competency of all staff members; assist in formulating budget, evaluates department performance versus budget and takes appropriate action to remain within budget guidelines.
Job Duties:
- Promote the mission, vision, and values of the organization
- Responsible for direction of the clinical services department and staff
- Maintain efficient and effective department operations while requiring compliance with all accreditation, state, federal and local regulatory laws, standards, and protocols.
- Ability to observe and evaluate treatment effect and recommend changes to physician if necessary
- Formulate a teaching plan based upon identified learning needs and evaluate effectiveness of learning
- Provide education to staff on performance improvement
- Demonstrate knowledge and proficiency of all respiratory services
- Serve as a liaison between administration, patients, physicians, and other healthcare providers
- Ongoing, effective communication with staff and leadership team
- Ensure effective maintenance of records pertinent to personnel and operation of the department
- Prepare reports regarding clinical services, i.e., utilization, performance improvement, service data, outcome data, productivity, including long term capital budget and short-term operation budget
- Demonstrate the ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations
- Maintain a good working relationship both within the department and with other departments
- Ability to plan and organize orientation and in-service training for department staff members and participate in guidance and educational programs
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local legal and professional requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions
- Ensure compliance with accreditation standards and requirements; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising leadership and Compliance on needed actions
- Develop and maintain working knowledge of current HME products and services offered by the company
- Utilizes various sources of information to attain greater competence about his or her position, including attending educational events (including attending optional in-services) and asking questions
- Maintain a standard of performance that prioritizes safety, quality and experience that coincides with the mission of the organization as well as identified key strategic or performance initiatives.
- Maintain rapport with ordering physicians. Inform the physicians and pertinent referral sources of changes in the patient’s condition through visit reports and telephone communication.
- Ensures accurate, timely documentation in the BT System (including scanning) according to best practice, guidelines, or workflows.
- Provides additional support to Adapthealth Sales Team, as identified to ensure all patient needs are being met and continuity of patient care is maintained.
- Participates in process improvement, professional development, peer development, peer review and shared program oversight.
- Comply with all applicable company policies, procedures, and patient protocols. Comply with all current government regulations and professional standards respecting patient care.
- Participate in educational programs as required.
- Reviews Plan of Treatments and Care Plans to assure they are accurate and up to date.
- Documents procedures including how the patient tolerated a procedure, side effects and other pertinent information.
- Displays knowledge of assessment skills and demonstrates application of clinical skills during set-ups, follow-ups, and in-services.
- Performs clinical assessments as needed and reports results and recommendations to the referral and physician.
- Participates in highly technical discharges and prepares in advance to assure the patient and caregivers have a smooth transition to the home setting.
- Retain knowledge of and consistently adhere to procedures for the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), infection control and hazardous materials handling.

- Competent in Respiratory therapy administration and management
- Able to perform clinical assessments and make recommendations to physicians
- Decision making, analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Strong verbal and written communication
- Leadership skills with ability to manage in a multi-site environment
- Strong organizational skills with ability to follow through
- Ability to work independently as well as follow detailed directives
Requirements
Minimum Job Qualifications:
- Associates degree from an AMA approved respiratory program, bachelor’s degree preferred
- Five (5) years Director-level experience in related position, preferably in the healthcare highly regarded.
- Two (2) years Healthcare experience preferably in a sales environment required.
- Two (2) years of management experience is required.
- Experience with liaison, discharge planning or referral coordinator experience is preferred.
- Valid and unrestricted RT clinical license in all states serviced by the branch
- Must be CPR certified,
- Valid and unrestricted driver’s license in the state of residence
