THE COMPANY:

STACK INFRASTRUCTURE (STACK) provides digital infrastructure to scale the world’s most innovative companies. We are an award-winning industry leader in building, owning, and operating highly efficient, cost-effective wholesale, colocation, and cloud data centers. Each of our national facilities meets or exceeds the highest industry standards in all operational categories of availability, security, connectivity, and physical resilience.

STACK offers the scale and geographic reach that rapidly growing hyperscale and enterprise companies need. The world runs on data. Data runs on STACK.

THE POSITION:

The Director, Accounting leads the team responsible for the company’s consolidated general ledger, month-end close, financial reporting, and technical accounting. Reporting directly to the VP of Corporate Accounting, this role offers a unique opportunity to build scalable accounting infrastructure during a period of significant growth and complexity.

You’ll collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure timely, accurate financials; lead process improvements and system enhancements; maintain internal controls; and support internal and external reporting requirements, including audit and compliance.

This is a hands-on leadership role ideal for a strong technical accountant and people leader who thrives in a fast-paced, evolving environment. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with U.S. GAAP.

  • Oversee all general ledger activity, including journal entries, accruals, consolidations, intercompany accounting, and account reconciliations.

  • Provide technical accounting guidance and documentation on complex transactions (e.g., lease accounting under ASC 842, asset impairments, debt, equity, and M&A).

  • Collaborate with FP&A, Treasury, Tax, and Operations to ensure alignment of financial results and support cross-functional initiatives.

  • Serve as the primary accounting contact for internal and external auditors; own preparation and coordination of audit deliverables.

  • Develop and enhance internal controls over financial reporting and support SOX readiness.

  • Identify opportunities for automation and continuous improvement in close, reporting, and reconciliation processes.

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of general ledger accountants and senior accountants.

  • Establish and track performance metrics for close timelines, reconciliation accuracy, and team KPIs.

THE DETAILS:

  • Location: Denver, CO

  • Travel: Up to 30%

  • Benefits: Healthcare, Dental Care, Vision Insurance, Life Insurance, Paid Time Off, and Paid Leave Programs

  • Must be eligible to work in the United States

  • Must pass comprehensive background and drug screening

MUST-HAVE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting experience, including 3+ years in a leadership role.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field; CPA required.

  • Strong technical knowledge of U.S. GAAP, with hands-on experience in lease accounting (ASC 842), revenue recognition, and consolidation.

  • Experience in real estate, REITs, or data center environments is strongly preferred.

  • Experience with complex legal entity structures and intercompany accounting.

  • Familiarity with NetSuite or similar ERP systems.

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to influence across teams.

Compensation Range:

$171,190.00 - $189,846.00

THIS MIGHT BE RIGHT FOR YOU IF:

  • You are a strong communicator, you are persuasive and clear, blending analytics with experience in decision-making.

  • You do not get flustered easily. You can juggle multiple priorities while balancing urgent requests with shifting timelines and deliverables.

  • You are a team builder. You take the time to understand and develop the strengths of your resources while formulating long-term plans for the growth and success of the team.

  • You are naturally curious and driven toward continual improvement. While you celebrate your successes, you take time to review and analyze campaigns for future learning.

WHY STACK?

  • We offer a competitive compensation package with strong benefits, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401K program, flexible spending accounts – even a cell phone subsidy.

  • We foster a culture of appreciation, including peer-to-peer recognition and rewards programs.

  • Fun is part of our DNA, with events, game nights, happy hours, and barbecues.

  • We’re growing – this is a great time to join and make an impact!
