Job Description - Director, Corporate Business Development

Job Description:

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Lead Acquisitions: Own multiple acquisition processes annually, from deal sourcing, initial valuation and LOI through due diligence, and close.
  • Build Founder Relationships: Meet with business owners and executives, share Airton’s value proposition, and assess cultural and strategic fit.
  • Drive Analysis & Decision-Making: Build and review financial models, evaluate strategic upside and risks, and synthesize key insights for investment decisions.
  • Coordinate Diligence & Closing: Lead cross-functional diligence efforts, managing internal stakeholders and external advisors across legal, finance, tech, and ops.
  • Shepard Acquisition to Integration: Oversee post-close transition and support new portfolio companies with early strategic planning, leadership alignment, and operational priorities.
  • Build the M&A Function: Mentor and grow a high-caliber team. Develop and evolve our deal execution approach and internal best practices.
  • Shape the Culture: Act as a culture carrier – modelling humility, high standards, and long-term thinking in everything you do.

Working Conditions:

  • Open office environment.
  • Some overtime required as special projects arise.
  • Travel up to 50% of time depending on deal volume
  • Ability to work across time zones

Minimum Requirements:

  • 7+ years of experience in M&A, private equity, investment banking, or corporate development with a track record of successful acquisitions across industries and/or geographies.
  • 3+ years of related experience in finance or investment banking
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or related field

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA, CPA, CFA, or similar credentials

Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong financial acumen with the ability to lead valuation, modeling, and commercial analysis.
  • Proven track record in operating in high-ambiguity environments and managing multiple deals simultaneously.
  • Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills – able to build trust with founders, operators, and internal stakeholders.
  • Experience managing cross-functional teams and coordinating third-party advisors through complex transactions.
  • Knowledge and experience working with private equity buyout and/or strategic mergers and acquisitions.
  • A team builder who takes pride in developing talent and shaping culture.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift/move up to 10 pounds frequently
  • Must be able to drive and operate a motorized passenger vehicle
  • Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to hard hat, safety glasses, ear plugs, masks/respirators, reflective safety vests, gloves and safety toe, construction-grade work boots
  • Must be able to adhere to long periods of standing, walking or sitting
  • Ability to hear, understand and distinguish speech and/or other sounds to operate phones or other equipment safely.
  • With natural or corrected vision, able to see and focus for close, distance, peripheral vision with normal depth perception
  • Ability to express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word to impart oral information to others 
  • Ability to enter text or data into a computer by means of a traditional keyboard or 10-key numeric keypad
  • Must be able to use arms and hands to reach overhead, signal, grab, hold, lift, turn, push and pull objects and tools
