OVERVIEW:

In this role, you’ll gain exposure to high-visibility initiatives, collaborate with senior leaders across the enterprise, and play a direct role in shaping the company’s strategic growth.

About the Role:

We’re looking for a high-impact attorney to join DICK’S Sporting Goods’ in-house legal team and play a key role in advancing our growth strategy. This position sits at the center of our most important commercial and strategic initiatives—partnering closely with business leaders to structure, negotiate, and execute a wide range of complex transactions.

This is an opportunity for a collaborative, business-minded lawyer who enjoys working at pace, solving complex problems, and helping drive meaningful enterprise initiatives.

Location: Pittsburgh, PA

What You’ll Do:

Lead and Support Commercial Transactions

  • Structure, negotiate, and draft a broad range of agreements, including:

    • Strategic partnerships and collaboration agreements

    • Term sheets, letters of intent, and joint business arrangements

    • Licensing, merchandising, vendor, and services agreements

  • Drive deals from initial concept through execution, including timeline management and stakeholder alignment

Advise on Strategic Initiatives

  • Provide practical, business-oriented legal advice throughout the deal lifecycle

  • Identify and assess legal, regulatory, and business risks, and develop solutions to move initiatives forward

  • Partner closely with cross-functional leaders across merchandising, marketing, technology, finance, and business development

Collaborate Across the Enterprise

  • Work side-by-side with internal stakeholders to advance key growth and innovation initiatives

  • Coordinate with subject matter experts across the legal team to ensure comprehensive support

Manage Outside Counsel & Drive Efficiency

  • Engage and manage outside counsel on complex matters and transactions

  • Support continuous improvement efforts, including process optimization and data-driven decision making within the legal function

What We’re Looking For:

Experience & Background

  • 3–5+ years of legal experience, ideally with a top law firm and/or in-house legal department

  • Strong experience in commercial transactions and deal work; M&A experience is a plus

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously

Skills & Capabilities

  • Strong contract drafting and negotiation skills

  • Business-oriented mindset with the ability to translate legal concepts into practical advice

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities

  • Highly collaborative, team-oriented approach

  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environment

  • High level of professionalism, integrity, and sound judgment

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Advanced Degree

  • JD Degree

  • 3-5 years of experience

  • Experience practicing law, preferably in a law firm or corporate legal department.
