What We're Looking For:

The Director of CREW oversees all 2U's Global facilities through vendor management, relationship management, real estate oversight, compliance, safety, emergency and management of the CREW team to, ultimately, cultivate an office space that facilitates employee productivity and engagement. Director of CREW is a strategic facilities leader who defines, influences, and implements corporate facility strategies for the two offices, Lanham, Maryland, US & Cape Town, South Africa. They are responsible for serving as an escalation point for the regional Workplace Operations team members, monitoring and reporting CREW's Workplace Operations budget, working with executives on real estate matters, and maintaining cost structure. The Director, CREW will also work closely with the VP, Workplace Operations to foster a 2U culture of engagement within our facilities.

Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To:

  • Operates with high levels of client service when working with 2U internal stakeholders and vendors, supporting implementation of software, office protocols, hybrid and remote environments, as well as ensuring that the facilities adhere to the necessary compliance.
  • Builds strong relationships with 2U stakeholder leadership to understand, anticipate, and coordinate changes for growth of staff and other needs.
  • Leads and works with project managers for site selection design and communication, real estate evaluation, and management for the identification of new facilities.
  • Manage vendor relationships from the RFP process through contract deployment; Review existing contracts and vendor relationships and periodically ensure competitive pricing and services.
  • Develop and administer the business continuity management function in partnership with cross functional teams to ensure continuity and response preparedness for critical business operations.
  • Manages, mentors, and coaches Workplace Operations management team on a day-to-day basis across all 2U offices.
  • Ensures that team goals are in alignment with annual department goals and strategy
  • Develops, monitors, and tracks budgets, ensuring workplace operations fall within financial targets for the 2U portfolio.
  • Manage day-to-day operations including, but not limited to, furniture and office supply procurement, space planning, janitorial services, reception, and company common spaces.
  • Administers security systems for the protection of property and people, including design and implementation of new or expanded system requirements.
  • Identifies, recommends, and executes continuous process improvements of Workplace Operations services and software based on data insights and employee feedback.
  • Establish and maintain proper building and employee security including emergency planning.
  • Strategically identifying real estate that will bring continuity
    to all 2U office space.
  • Support negotiating leases and contracts.
  • Working with 2U facilities and property management teams to oversee building work/renovation.
  • Communicating extensively with 2U stakeholders, e.g. Finance,
    Legal, HR and functional areas to understand and anticipate needs, changes and
    growth for staff.
  • Maintaining relationships with brokers as necessary.

Things That Should Be In Your Background:

  • 8+ years business experience with multiple years directly related to real estate and property management operations for multi-location organizations in a growing company
  • Enthusiasm, leadership, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience successfully managing remote offices with a high level of customer (employee) service and clear, ongoing communication
  • Ability to work effectively with vendors and property managers to achieve results and solve problems quickly and efficiently
  • Excellent computer skills (Google Suite, Microsoft Office, inclusive of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Smartsheet)

Other Attributes That Will Help You In This Role:

  • Bachelor's and Master's degree preferred
  • IFMA certification preferred
  • Experience with JIRA, OfficeSpace a plus

This position is open to candidates who live in the Washington-Baltimore metropolitan area and who are available to come into our Headquarters in Lanham, MD five days a week.

The anticipated base salary range for this role is ($121,000-150,000), with potential bonus eligibility. Salary offers are made based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and education as they directly relate to the requirements of the position, budget for the position and cost of labor in the market in which the candidate will be hired.
