ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Provide leadership, guidance, and act as a liaison to all campus community areas to ensure all Client technological assets meet digital accessibility requirements.
- Develop and execute digital accessibility strategies and initiatives to ensure compliance with relevant digital accessibility standards particularly Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG). Work with campus community to develop compliance plans.
- Plan, monitor, and coordinate digital accessibility activities founded on a risk-based approach.
- Educate HCC staff and faculty on digital accessibility requirements, monitor for federal and state compliance, identify tools and resources that can help facilitate compliance, and collaborate on ideas for future strategic opportunities.
- Coordinate with Disability Services and General Counsel as related to digital accessibility.
- Attend meetings representing IT on issues of digital accessibility.
- Remain current on regulatory guidelines and best practices in digital accessibility.
- Recommend and advise on digital accessibility criteria for integration into the development of processes, procedures, and resource requirements.
- Identifies college-supported standards and recommends tools for developing and testing.
- Consult with IT Business Operations and Procurement staff to ensure accessibility requirements are incorporated into procurement processes (SOWs, specifications, receiving, etc.) to include requisitions, contracts, and purchase orders.
- Lead a team of digital accessibility professionals, providing guidance, mentorship, and performance management to ensure the successful implementation of accessibility initiatives.
- Monitor industry developments and participate in relevant accessibility conferences and forums to enhance knowledge and share expertise with the college.
- Develop and oversee implementation of digital accessibility programs to maintain continual compliance with federal and state laws.
- Conduct regular audits and assessments of digital content including websites, applications, and other digital assets as needed to identify gaps and barriers and oversee the implementation of necessary improvement to ensure compliance with institutional policies, and federal and state laws.
- Develop and implement administrative controls and strategies to provide effective oversight of digital content.
- Develop reports, study, research projects, etc., as needed to administer campus digital accessibility compliance.
- Perform other duties, tasks and assignments as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, assistive technology, education or related field required.
- 5 years experience managing accessible/assistive technology, including 2 years of supervisory experience.
