They spend significant time on strategy and influencing decision-making at the executive level.\n\nJob Description:\n\nEssential Responsibilities: \n\n * Provide strategic legal advice and support to senior management, influencing business strategy an decision making.\n * Anticipate regulatory and legal risks, and proactively design strategies to manage them.\n * Perform legal and regulatory compliance risk assessments, propose creative solutions where applicable, and help advance business objectives.\n * Manage escalations, collaborate across other teams and develop solutions to enable business partners to achieve their goals.\n * Develop a strong rapport and working relationship with business counterparts across the enterprise to help drive the delivery of effective legal services.\n * Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations, leading the adoption of cutting-edge legal technologies and best practices.\n * Manage legal risks and safeguard PayPal\u0027s legal interests, developing forward-looking risk management strategies.\n * Provide key inputs as an industry leader and expert, staying ahead of legal trends and influencing industry standards.\n\n\n\nMinimum Qualifications:\n\n * 10+ years relevant experience and a Juris doctorate degree OR Any equivalent combination of education and experience.\n\n\n\nAdditional Responsibilities \u0026 Preferred Qualifications:\n\nJob Summary: Serve as a trusted strategic advisor to senior executives and business leaders on complex, high-impact employment matters. Provide clear, practical, and risk-balanced guidance on sensitive employee relations issues, executive matters, reorganizations, reductions in force, workforce strategy, and organizational change. Anticipate legal and reputational risks and proactively recommend solutions aligned with business objectives and Company values. Oversee employment litigation and agency matters and efficiently manage outside counsel. Provide legal guidance on risk, implementation, and responsible and compliant use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools throughout the employment life cycle. Develop and deliver training to leaders, HR partners, and investigations teams on employment law risk, compliance expectations, and best practices. Serve as the primary legal advisor to Employee Relations and investigations teams across the Americas.\n\nAdditional Responsibilities \u0026 Preferred Qualifications:\n\n\u2022 Deep expertise in U.S. employment law, with experience advising multinational organizations. \n\n\u2022 Significant experience handling and advising on complex workplace investigations.\n\n\u2022 Strong litigation management experience, including oversight of outside counsel and agency matters. \n\n\u2022 Demonstrated experience advising on executive-level and high-visibility employment issues. \n\n\u2022 Knowledge of AI-related legal risks in the workplace, including bias, data privacy, and regulatory compliance. \n\n\u2022 Ability to translate complex legal requirements into practical, business-oriented guidance. \n\n\u2022 Sound judgment and strong risk assessment capabilities in fast-moving, high-stakes situations. \n\n\u2022 Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to advise senior executives clearly and confidently. \n\n\u2022 Experience operating in a highly regulated and global environment. \n\n\u2022 Ability to balance legal rigor with commercial realities and organizational culture. \n\n\u2022 Strong collaboration skills and the ability to build trusted partnerships across functions. \n\n\u2022 Proven ability to manage competing priorities and drive issues to resolution with clarity and accountability.\n\nSubsidiary:\n\nPayPal\n\nTravel Percent:\n\n0\n\n-\n\nThe base pay for this role will depend on where you work and the relevant experience and expertise you bring. The expected range of pay for this role by location is:\n\nPrimary Location | Pay Range:\n\nChicago, Illinois | ($198,000.00 - $294,250.00 Annually)\n\nAdditional Location(s) | Pay Range:\n\nSan Jose, California | ($218,000.00 - $323,950.00 Annually) \n\n\nAdditional compensation for this role may include an annual performance bonus, equity, or other incentive compensation, as applicable.\n\nPayPal does not charge candidates any fees for courses, applications, resume reviews, interviews, background checks, or onboarding.
