General Summary:
The Director of Engineering for Platform Architecture in IE-IoT will establish, develop, and lead a global team of engineers charged with platform definition, coordination, and execution for internally and externally designed platforms. Efforts include product requirements gathering, high level definition, collaboration with chipset design teams, participating in chipset core meetings, coordinating design efforts with internal teams, schedule management, design review, and collaborating with customer engineering.
A successful candidate should have working knowledge and experience in complex system architecture and design across a wide range of topologies from handheld mobile devices to industrial systems. Prior experience in component selection, electrical design, and PCB design, with working knowledge in PCB manufacturing, CCA assembly, and Final Assembly and Test are a plus.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or related field and 8+ years of Hardware Engineering or related work experience.Preferred Qualifications:
Prior experience with HW Platform Architecture definition.
Hands on Experience with executing on HW Platforms with internal and external vendors.
15+ years of Hardware Engineering or related work experience.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Establish, develop and lead a global team of engineers who will collaborate on IoT platforms with internal and external teams
Coordinate with internal and external teams to ensure platform product requirements are captured and achieved
Experience with diverse system architectures from handheld to industrial PCs.
Ensure quality standards are met and maintained
Compile and present data for business unit executives
Clear verbal and written communication skills to convey detailed information
Ability to understand and solve complex problems
Define and maintain project schedules, budgets, and deliverables
Supervise, guide, and develop direct reports
Level of Responsibility:
• Provides supervision to other supervisors/managers who are direct reports.
• Decision-making is critical in nature and highly impacts program, product, or project success.
• Requires verbal and written communication skills to convey highly complex and/or detailed information. May require strong negotiation and influence with large groups or high-level constituents.
• Works within the prescribed budgetary objectives of the department.
• Has a great degree of influence over key organizational decisions.
• Tasks often require multiple steps which can be performed in various orders; extensive planning, problem-solving, and prioritization must occur to complete the tasks effectively.

Pay range and Other Compensation & Benefits:
$207,600.00 - $340,300.00The above pay scale reflects the broad, minimum to maximum, pay scale for this job code for the location for which it has been posted. Even more importantly, please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Qualcomm. We also offer a competitive annual discretionary bonus program and opportunity for annual RSU grants (employees on sales-incentive plans are not eligible for our annual bonus).
