Job Description - Director - Engineering

Lead Innovation. Build Excellence. Drive Results.


We are seeking a Director of Engineering - VED Products responsible for overseeing engineering teams and large-scale projects, and influencing company-wide strategies for our Power Electronics Division.  You will manage and mentor engineering individual contributors, ensuring the delivery of high-quality products and solutions. 


 


YOU WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR:




  • Strategic Leadership: Setting the vision and direction for the engineering teams, Lead the engineering teams to design, develop and implement cutting-edge solutions in power electronics  VED products. 





  • Project Management: Oversee the progress and timeliness of engineering projects, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget. 



  • Technical Oversight: Provide strategic technical direction, mitigate risks and drive successful project outcomes by aligning engineering capabilities with long term business roadmaps. 



  • Product Management: Drive the development of new products and systems, from concept through to delivery. 



  • Cross Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with other departments (e.g., product management, operations, sales) to align engineering activities with business needs and goals. 



  • Resource Management: Manage engineering budgets, allocate resources effectively, and ensure efficient staffing. 



  • Innovation: Drive technological innovation within the organization, staying abreast of industry trends and advancements.  



  • Process Improvement: Provide guidance and mentorship to engineering staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.



  • Compliance: Ensure that engineering solutions comply with relevant industry standards and regulations. 


 


YOU ARE THE RIGHT PERSON FOR THIS JOB IF YOU HAVE:



  • Education/Experience:  Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Applied Science, or a related field with 10+ years experience.

  • Technical Expertise - Deep understanding of engineering principles and best practices, with experience in RF, Power Electronics and development lifecycles

  • Leadership – Proven hands-on leader with ability to lead multi-disciplinary engineering teams in a matrix organization, while recognizing and mitigating technical risks. Strong team management skills, with experience in coaching and mentoring.

  • Strategic Thinking - Ability to develop and execute engineering strategies aligned with business objectives. 

  • Communication - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders at all levels. 

  • Project Management - Experience in managing complex engineering projects, including resource allocation and budget management. 

  • Financial Acumen: Experience successfully managing project and departmental overhead budgets.
