Description

The Executive Protection (EP) Specialist is responsible for the safety and security of designated executives with a focus on the company’s Chief Executive Officer/Chairman. This role provides close protection, secure transportation, advance planning, and threat mitigation services domestically and occasionally in international environments. The EP Specialist operates in dynamic risk environments and supports broader global security, crisis response, and travel risk management program execution.

This position directly supports business continuity by enabling secure movement of personnel and safeguarding corporate reputation through proactive risk management and protective tactical operations that can include overnight and irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

This position is not hybrid/remote and will be located at our Global Headquarters in Cleveland, OH. 

Job duties include contact with other employees and access confidential and proprietary information and/or other items of value, and such access may be supervised or unsupervised. The Company therefore has determined that a review of criminal history is necessary to protect the business and its operations and reputation and is necessary to protect the safety of the Company’s staff, employees, and business relationships.

Responsibilities

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS 

Executive Protection Operations

  • Provide Close Protection (CP) for the company’s CEO, and/or executives during business travel, events, and daily operations.
  • Conduct protective advances (site surveys, route analysis, safe haven, and contingency planning) for all movements and engagements.
  • Maintain situational awareness and dynamically assess threats across varying risk environments and geographical regions (low to high/hostile).
  • Execute secure transportation operations, including defensive driving and coordination with security drivers.
  • Implement protective intelligence into operational planning.

 

Risk Assessment & Intelligence

  • Collect and analyze threat intelligence from internal and third-party sources to assess risks to executives and operations. 
  • Conduct pre-travel risk assessments and produce mitigation plans tailored to destinations and threat levels. 
  • Monitor geopolitical, criminal, health, and environmental risks and communicate updates to supervisor and stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with Intelligence & Response group protective intelligence efforts, including behavioral threat indicators and emerging risks.

 

Travel Security & Logistics

  • Coordinate secure itineraries, accommodations, transportation, and vetted third-party vendors.
  • Provide on-the-ground security support in high-risk locations when required. 

 

Crisis Response & Incident Management

  • Assist with emergency response and traveler accountability during incidents (natural disasters, unrest, medical emergencies). 
  • Support enterprise crisis management and business continuity programs. 
  • Provide real-time operational updates and escalate risks appropriately.
  • Participate in crisis simulations and readiness exercises.

 

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Interface with executive leadership, business units, and external partners to deliver security solutions. 
  • Deliver security briefings and travel safety training to executives and employees.  
  • Coordinate with vendors, law enforcement, government agencies, and intelligence providers.

Qualifications

POSITION REQUIREMENTS 

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. 
  • 5+ years of experience in executive protection, law enforcement, military, or corporate security.
  • Demonstrated experience providing close protection in dynamic or elevated-risk environments for high-net worth individuals or executive level positions.

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future for employment visa status 
  • Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age

 

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Security, Criminal Justice, or related field
  • Executive Protection certification or equivalent training
  • Experience with travel risk intelligence platforms (e.g., Crisis24, International SOS, Everbridge) 
  • Experience with threat monitoring and situational awareness systems (e.g., Factal, BlackCloak)
  • Experience with secure communications equipment and mobile technology (e.g., DMR, SATCOM, CriticalTrac)
  • Experience with mapping and route planning tools (e.g., ESRI GIS, ARINC, PFM)
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products
  • First Aid / CPR / AED or advanced medical (EMT) certifications
  • Defensive driving certification
  • OSAC familiarity or membership
  • Ability to obtain a federal government security clearance of Secret or Top Secret through DHS or DOJ. 

 

Travel: 50% or more including international travel
