is currently seeking a

Director of Facilities Maintenance.

This position will report to our Associate Vice President of Facilities. The Director of Facilities Maintenance is the leader of university facilities operations and maintenance, supervising our trade shops during the delivery of building maintenance, operations, and small in-house construction projects. This position will lead the department in maintenance and operations of university facilities and provide leadership for exceptional customer service for university departments.
We are seeking strong leadership and supervisory skills as well as project management expertise.
This position will lead and manage the resources and staff of the Facilities Maintenance department to support the university strategic plan and the Facilities Master Plan. This includes creative and effective responses to day-to-day operations and emergency needs of university facilities.
This position is responsible for the following areas:
Boiler Plant Maintenance
Access Controls
Energy Management Systems Maintenance
Electrical Maintenance
Heating Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration
Plumbing Maintenance
Fabrications
Housing Maintenance
Workforce Construction
Building Maintenance
Paint Maintenance

Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Construction Management, Engineering, Business Management or related field. Applicable experience can substitute for education requirements.
3-5 year’s experience in Facilities Management, including budget experience
Proficient with computer software such as Microsoft office suite
Experience with multi-building and multi-craft supervision
Experience coordinating and implement small construction projects
Must be able to work independently, prioritize work, and communicate verbally and in writing detailed information to internal and external constituents to support department operations and good will.
Demonstrated ability to apply a culturally responsive and flexible approach that is supportive to the diverse needs, including universal accessibility, of our students, staff, faculty and the public.
Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Computer Maintenance Management System ( CMMS )
Additional Technical Experience in one or more building system: Medium/Low Voltage Electrical, Mechanical, Building Systems, Plumbing, Boiler Plant Operations, Facilities Security, or other
Experience with facilities automation systems: examples: electronic monitoring and switching, automated controls, energy management
Ability to keep abreast of industry trends and best practices in facility management to drive continuous improvement.

This position will support and coordinate the following university programs and processes within their unit:

Sustainability and Conservation . The university has made sustainability and energy conservation a top priority. This position is responsible for implementing sustainable design and installation techniques on minor and major capital projects to support these goals.
Facilities Condition Assessments . This unit supports the review and update of facilities conditions related to their work areas. This biennial survey updates the condition assessment score of all university buildings and other facilities and is used to develop the deferred maintenance backlog costs and associated projects.
Compliance.

The director of Facilities Services collaborates with other directors and university staff to identify compliance issues and potential risk to the university. In a collaborative manner works directly with; staff, local, state, jurisdictions having authority ( JHA ), and other compliance agencies on construction projects and day-to-day operations.
University Standards of Performance . This position is responsible for developing, enhancing, and promoting university standards regarding their work areas regarding project design and operational enhancements.
Reporting.

Support and coordinate reporting to department, other units on campus and local jurisdictional authorities. Use reports and documentation to support long term and succession planning outcomes
