Job Summary/Position Purpose
This position provides statewide leadership for BCBSLA facilities operations, overseeing the maintenance, performance, and regulatory compliance of company‑owned and leased properties. The role ensures enterprise standards, preventative maintenance, and core building and life‑safety systems are consistently executed, with facilities maintained in a safe, functional, and occupancy‑ready condition. Responsibilities include vendor and contract management, staff development, 24/7 emergency response readiness, and strategic oversight of real estate development activities, including construction, renovations, expansions, and space planning.
How You Contribute to the Company’s Mission in this Role:
Provides leadership, direction, and performance management for facilities staff, ensuring service standards, organizational protocols, and customer expectations are consistently met.
Oversees the operation, maintenance, and readiness of all buildings, grounds, and equipment, ensuring facilities are safe, functional, and available for occupancy through effective preventative maintenance and life‑safety programs.
Establishes governance and oversight for building systems, conducting high‑level assessments to ensure compliance with operational standards while identifying opportunities for modernization, risk mitigation, and long‑term system improvements.
Leads energy management and sustainability initiatives, ensuring compliance with applicable mandates while reducing operational and lifecycle costs and supporting environmental stewardship goals.
Provides strategic oversight of major facility modifications, renovations, and infrastructure projects, collaborating with internal stakeholders and external partners to ensure alignment with corporate standards, regulatory requirements, and business needs.
Ensures enterprise‑wide compliance with applicable building codes, life‑safety standards, environmental regulations, and other regulatory requirements.
Provides oversight and strategic direction for real estate development initiatives, including new construction, renovations, expansions, and space planning, ensuring alignment with organizational strategy, budget parameters, and long‑term facilities planning.
Oversees facilities‑related contract management, including vendor selection, negotiation, performance monitoring, and renewals, ensuring service quality, value realization, and compliance with organizational and regulatory requirements.
Develops and manages facilities operating and capital budgets, exercising fiscal oversight, evaluating vendor proposals, and ensuring cost‑effective allocation of resources.
Establishes and monitors key performance metrics to evaluate facilities operations, drive continuous improvement, and enhance service delivery, safety, and efficiency.
Required qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in business management, engineering, construction management, architecture, interior design, or a related field is required. Four years of related work experience can be used in lieu of a degree.
Professional certifications such as Certified Facilities Manager (CFM) or equivalent is required within one year of hire.
7 years of experience in facility management and construction/maintenance required.
3 years of leadership experience required.
This position requires 24/7 availability should there be any emergencies requiring response outside of normal business hours.
