Director, Finishing & Packaging Operations

Position summary:

MPG is seeking a Director of Finishing & Packaging Operations who will be responsible for developing and maintaining “best-in-class” manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate is a transformational leader with experience implementing positive change within a manufacturing environment. This position must work with cross-functional leadership to create and implement holistic solutions that meet business objectives. Reporting to the VP, Manufacturing, the Director, Finishing & Packaging Operations will create value by understanding customer needs and how to effectively leverage current methodologies and strategies, with an eye towards continuous improvement.

What you will do:

Reinforce a strong Safety, Security and Quality culture. Maintain a safe working environment where production activities protect people, product, environment and quality.

Set and communicate objectives for the Finishing and Packaging teams, owning and reviewing scorecards with management. Develop managers so that they understand all individual and departmental performance expectations and provide tools for them to be proactive in achieving goals.

Ensure consistency of operations across shifts through active engagement on the production floor.

Implement systems of control over capital, operating expenditures and labor.

Promote a team environment, fostering open communication.

Identify and implement improvements in processes, procedures and operations that positively impact quality, safety, security, productivity and profitability.

Participate in the creation of, and ensure adherence to, department production plans. Lead department managers to optimize production scheduling and budgets.

Provide direction, leadership, mentoring, and motivation to teams with the objective of building and maintaining a high-performing organization.

Act as a culture champion cascading the organization’s pillars (safety, quality, security), vision, mission, etc.

Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and customer/industry standards.

Empower teams to eliminate waste, drive results and create value for our customers.

Stay abreast of industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies to drive innovation and maintain our competitive edge.

What you will bring (continued):

Minimum 10+ years of plant operations management experience and bachelor’s degree in relevant field; or equivalent combination of experience and education.

Experience utilizing ERP systems required; experience leading during ERP implementation preferred.

Significant experience in high-volume, high-speed production.

Experience with multisite management required; experience leading 24/7 manufacturing operations highly preferred.

Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

Strong analytical skills and data-driven thinking.

Excellent problem-solving abilities and strategic thinking skills, with a focus on driving continuous improvement and innovation.

Excellent collaboration and communication skills with demonstrated ability to get results in a team-oriented, participative environment.

Proven track record of success in driving operational excellence, implementing lean manufacturing principles, and delivering measurable results.

Strong financial acumen - understanding of P&L statements, budgeting, and cost control.

Proficient with MS Office Suite.
