Director, G&A, Data & Software Engineering

As Director of Data Engineering \u0026 Management, you will own the data platform strategy and delivery for Finance, HR, Legal, and Compliance, leading a team of 10\u201320 data engineers while staying hands-on with the most complex technical challenges. This is an engineering-led leadership role, not a portfolio management role: we are looking for someone who architects solutions, writes production code, and earns trust through delivered results. Reports to the VP of Enterprise Data, Architecture \u0026 AI. Hybrid role based in Cambridge, MA with 2 days/week onsite.\n\n \n\nResponsibilities\n\n \n\n\u2022 Own end-to-end data platform strategy and delivery for Finance, HR, Legal, and Compliance \u2014 building reliable pipelines and infrastructure that enable financial analytics, people analytics, workforce planning, and compliance reporting.\n\n\u2022 Architect and implement production-grade ELT/ETL pipelines integrating SAP S/4HANA and SAP SuccessFactors with Snowflake, Databricks, and AWS using Python, SQL, Airflow, and dbt.\n\n\u2022 Establish data governance, quality, and master data management frameworks meeting SOX, GDPR, and data privacy requirements across all G\u0026A domains.\n\n\u2022 Serve as the primary data platform partner to CFO, CHRO, CLO, and CCO organizations \u2014 translating business requirements into scalable technical solutions and owning delivery outcomes.\n\n\u2022 Build, mentor, and scale a high-performing team of 10\u201320 data engineers and analytics professionals, fostering a culture of engineering excellence and functional domain fluency.\n\n \n\nQualifications\n\n \n\nRequired\n\n \n\n\u2022 Bachelor\u2019s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; advanced degree preferred.\n\n\u2022 10+ years building production data platforms and pipelines; 5+ years in leadership roles.\n\n\u2022 Expert-level Snowflake and strong Databricks experience; hands-on AWS data services (S3, Glue, EMR, Lake Formation).\n\n\u2022 Expert SQL and Python with production-quality coding standards.\n\n\u2022 Deep SAP integration experience: S/4HANA, SuccessFactors, CDS Views, OData APIs, Fivetran or Matillion.\n\n\u2022 Strong data governance experience including quality frameworks, lineage, cataloging, and MDM.\n\n\u2022 Familiarity with SOX, GDPR, CCPA, and regulated data environments.\n\n\u2022 5+ years leading data engineering teams of 10+; proven ability to balance technical contribution with team leadership.\n\n \n\nPreferred\n\n \n\n\u2022 Biotech or pharmaceutical industry experience.\n\n\u2022 People analytics platform experience (Visier, One Model, or equivalent).\n\n\u2022 Experience with people analytics use cases: attrition modeling, workforce planning, compensation benchmarking.\n\n\u2022 Knowledge of data governance tools: Collibra, Alation, or Atlan.\n\n\u2022 Occasional travel required (10\u201315%).\n\n \n\n#LI-Hybrid\n\n#LI-LN1\n\nU.S. Pay Range\n\n$193,800.00 - $262,200.00\n\nThe pay range reflects the full-time base salary range we expect to pay for this role at the time of posting. Base pay will be determined based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, skills, and education.
