Job Description

The

Director of Global Communication

will be responsible for reputational management activities including corporate and social communication strategies aligned to divisional plans and serve as the lead on crisis communications. This person will report into the Snr Director of Brand and Communications and will work closely with the global marketing leadership team (GMLT) to develop and help ensure alignment of efforts to support NSF's growth. This role will oversee a diversely skilled global communications team and work closely with Brand to enhance NSF's image.

Responsibilities

Establish and drive multi-channels global communication strategies to support the organization's brand priorities, including partnering with global media relations to help ensure aligned messaging and positioning.
Develop and lead external communication strategies and activities to help tell the NSF story to our stakeholders, including our financial community, and drive brand awareness to support NSF's global mission, goals, and objectives in both the b2b space (primarily) and b2c where appropriate.
Oversee internal communications strategies and execution to drive better alignment, understanding, and dialogue across our global organization to support NSF's mission, goals, and objectives.
Anticipate, identify, and mitigate risks to NSF's reputation and lead the development of comprehensive issues management and crisis communications plans. Responds to stakeholders as needed in sensitive/threatening situations.
Partner with Brand to ensure communication messages are effective and consistent across multiple regions, divisions, and communication platforms via a comprehensive content strategy.
Work with divisional marketing teams to identify and clarify shared responsibility for internal and external communications achieved through templates, training and implementing clear guidelines for best practice execution.
Serve as communications advisor to CEO and the Senior Leadership Team.
Collaborates with Global Marketing Team to build and maintain a positive corporate brand.
Develops, composes, distributes, and implements policies to enhance the efficiency of the communications department and further develop the building and maintaining of a positive corporate brand.
Oversee the day-to-day activities of the communications function, including people leadership, budgeting, planning, and staff development.
Recruit and manage a global communications team to support the development and execution of the communications strategy.
Mentor and develop staff using a supportive and collaborative approach.
Develop, implement, and adhere to the annual communications budget and play a proactive role in the development of the overarching Marketing department's short and long-term strategic plans.

Qualifications

15+ years' experience in communications in a senior management role.
Strong writing and communications skills., with an emphasis in the technical service offering area.
Demonstrated ability to lead change initiatives with experience in change management methodologies and techniques.
Demonstrated expertise in consumer and client public relations and communications.
Demonstrated ability to build strong customer relationships, understand customer needs and deliver customer-centric solutions aligned with the mission and goals.
Demonstrated experience managing multiple projects, including initiating, planning, executing, controlling, and closing the work of a project team to achieve goals, budgets, and timelines.
Demonstrated ability to build and lead teams, including selecting and developing talent, building trust, coaching team members, and managing performance resulting in high-performing teams.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Demonstrated business acumen, including the ability to build relationships, interpret financial indicators, adopt innovative ideas and apply knowledge of the business to advance the organization's goals.
Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver organizational messages using various communication modes for transparency and clarity of messages with teams in a consistent and timely manner.
Demonstrated ability to learn and respond quickly to organizational needs, demonstrating resiliency in various situations, adapting quickly to changing needs of the business
High proficiency in spoken and written English. Second language is an advantage.
Must actively model all NSF core values and possess high ethical standards.
Proven leadership skills to create a high-performing team.
Collaborative with a global mindset, engages with stakeholders across programs and geographies to achieve business results.
Experience developing and implementing strategy.
Ability to be on site hybrid in Ann Arbor, Michigan, at least 3 days / week - NSF will provide relocation assistance
Willingness to travel, if and when required.

Education:
Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, marketing, or a related field

Salary Range: $140,000 - $200,000 USD

The total pay range takes into account a wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skills; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed pay range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At NSF, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the pay range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
