Director, Research Operations, Walmart Healthcare Research Institute
At WHRI, Research Operations is responsible for the execution of all research projects for our customers. We build and foster strong working relationships with our customers to exceed their expectations while enhancing the Walmart brand.The Director, Research Operations is a leadership role managing projects, people and client relationships. The Director, Research Operations and their team will have full accountability for the planning, execution and oversight of multiple projects for one or more customers. This role requires extensive experience in clinical development, project/program management and client relationships. In addition, this role will work closely with our Solution Design and business development functions as well as the Operational Transformation team. We’re looking for folks who are practical and can execute, but with a healthy disregard for the impossible. To be on our team you must be mission-focused, passionate about bringing clinical research as a care option to communities and understand the potential of leveraging the Walmart infrastructure to transform healthcare research.
Program Planning and Strategy
Develop and implement strategic plans for WHRI projects in alignment with WHRI goals.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define program objectives, timelines, and resource requirements.
Provide strategic input on cohort selection based on protocol I/E criteria, wave planning, operational goals, quality metrics etc.
Program Management
Lead and oversee the planning, execution, and monitoring of multiple portfolio studies simultaneously.
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, client requirements industry standards, and ethical guidelines.
Manage portfolio budgets, timelines, and resources effectively.
Guide the operational teams in the development of research messaging content for submission to WHRI governance, the client, and IRB.
Business Development
Assist the business development team in identifying and assessing potential business opportunities, including collaborations with external partners and pharmaceutical companies.
Oversee the development of bid defense slide decks and represent WHRI during bid defenses.
Establish and nurture relationships with key opinion leaders, investigators, and potential collaborators.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Assist the teams in removing operational blockers, obtain approvals from WHRI senior management, and foster strong collaborations with internal teams, including clinical operations, regulatory affairs, data management, and medical affairs.
Regularly provide performance feedback for individual team members and operational input to improve established processes.

Minimum Qualifications...

Outlined below are the required minimum qualifications for this position. If none are listed, there are no minimum qualifications.
Bachelor’s degree in business, healthcare, or related area and 15 years’ experience in global matrix drug development research and operational strategies.
Prior work experience in project/program management, including risk assessment, timeline and budget management, and contingency planning.
Prior work experience leading cross-functional matrix teams.
