These influencer relationships are critical -to help us monitor business and technology trends, aggregate and track market forecast and market share data, and analyze the competitive landscape and how it evolves.

What will you do at Ciena?

We are looking for a passionate, skilled communicator who is adept at developing corporate messaging and content for a cross-functional audience. This individual plays a critical role in helping craft the story of Ciena's strategic vision, while simultaneously deriving insights from analysts to inform our internal decision-making engines.

We seek someone who can interpret and synthesize complex business and technology concepts into clear, compelling stories that reinforce Ciena's innovation mindset, ability to execute, and leadership position. The role has responsibility for defining strategic narratives and key messages that best tell the story to these global industry analyst influencers.

This person possesses diplomacy in driving collaboration across multiple teams, including senior executives and leaders, gathering information, developing content, and driving impactful communications strategies for this key influencer group. The Director of Industry Analyst Relations is someone with deep business acumen, high emotional intelligence, and proven excellence at effectively positioning a company to this critical stakeholder community.

Specific Responsibilities
Drive impactful, assertive program of two-way information exchange between the global industry analyst community and company executives
Promote innovation mindset to key industry influencers, sharing company strategy, portfolio, financial results, and vision
Derive insights from analysts to feed data-driven internal decision-making and strategy
Design and execute global/regional/virtual events to brief analysts on company progress and vision
Craft analyst outreach strategy at industry events for both onsite and virtual presence
Represent Ciena in-person at global trade shows and events
Support Senior Director of Market & Competitive Intelligence in annual decisions about market research subscription purchases and research procurement
Support custom research commissioning process
In close cooperation with Market & Competitive Intelligence team, oversee maintenance of internal SharePoint site for the department
Help department address and respond to incoming requests for market research from across the company in a timely manner
Train and coach spokespeople to most effectively communicate and message to industry analysts
Manage Senior Associate, Industry Analyst Relations

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Communications or related field
Minimum of 10 years' experience in program development, stakeholder management and communications within a large corporate environment
Experience working effectively in a matrixed environment with the ability to synthesize information from numerous sources into a clear direction forward
High emotional intelligence, influencing and relationship skills, including appreciation and understanding of cultural differences globally
Keen ability to lead, influence and motivate
Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal
Thorough, detail-oriented project management and interpersonal skills, with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
Friendly and approachable demeanor as representative and spokesperson for the company
Ability to exercise discretion and good judgment on sensitive matters
Ability to operate effectively and independently in a challenging, fast-paced environment
