Job Description:

The Director of Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) is responsible for the operational, clinical, and administrative oversight of the APP workforce across the Chesapeake Urology Associates (CUA) market, supporting both Urology and 
Oncology service lines. This role provides leadership for the market-wide APP team and is accountable for workforce management, care delivery optimization, onboarding and development, and alignment with organizational goals.


The Director serves as a key liaison between APPs, supervising physicians, executive leadership, and MSO partners, ensuring high-quality, efficient, and compliant care delivery. This role emphasizes standardization, productivity 
optimization, and a consistent APP experience across all practice locations.

Responsibilities:


APP Operations & Workforce Management
• Develop and execute a comprehensive APP workforce planning strategy to optimize staffing models across clinic and hospital settings.
• In cooperation with the Directors of Operation and departmental leads, oversee day-to-day APP scheduling 
operations, including time off and coverage needs across all sites.
• Ensure adequate clinical coverage to support patient access and operational efficiency.
• Partner with leadership to proactively address staffing gaps and optimize workforce allocation.
• Support recruitment efforts, including interviewing and selection.
• Manage employee relations and performance concerns in collaboration with Human Resources.
• Provide coaching, feedback, and performance management support, including corrective action when necessary.


Onboarding, Training & Professional Development
• Develop, implement, and manage a standardized onboarding and training program for all newly hired APPs.
• Coordinate structured shadowing and clinical training experiences to support competency development.
• Coordinate with Credentialing, Human Resources, and Operations teams to ensure all onboarding requirements are completed and that APPs are fully prepared for Day 1 of employment.
• Ensure effective integration of new APPs into clinical teams, workflows, and organizational culture.
• Continuously evaluate and improve onboarding processes and training effectiveness.
• Oversee ongoing clinical education and professional development programs to ensure continued competency 
and growth.


Clinical Oversight & Physician Collaboration
• Identify and implement innovative care delivery models, including standalone APP clinics, to improve access 
and efficiency.
• Partner with supervising physicians to support safe, effective, and collaborative clinical practice.
• Address clinical concerns, including errors, workflow challenges, and practice improvement opportunities.
• Support APP practice at the top of licensure within established clinical, legal, and regulatory parameters.
• Promote strong physician-APP collaboration and communication across all practice locations.
• Ensure annual performance evaluations are completed for all APPs.


Productivity, Revenue & Operational Effectiveness
• Establish and maintain standardized productivity benchmarks for APPs across general and specialty practices.
• Identify and implement opportunities to improve efficiency, patient throughput, and care delivery models.
• Support revenue optimization through workflow alignment, documentation practices, and billing awareness.
• Partner with MSO teams and leadership on operational initiatives, process improvements, and new implementations.
 

Research & Innovation
• Identify and expand opportunities for APP involvement in research initiatives across the market.
• Collaborate with clinical leadership to increase participation in research activities that drive clinical 
innovation, enhance professional development, and contribute to organizational growth and revenue.


Standardization & Compliance
• Develop and implement standardized workflows and best practices for APP operations across all locations.
• Ensure consistency in clinical and operational processes to support quality and efficiency.
• Maintain compliance with organizational policies, regulatory requirements, and applicable state laws.
• Partner with MSO, compliance, and leadership teams to address regulatory, operational, and risk-related issues.


Leadership & Communication
• Serve as the central point of coordination for APP-related operations within the CUA market.
• Foster a collaborative, accountable, and professional culture among APP staff.
• Communicate organizational priorities, operational updates, and expectations clearly and consistently.
• Support organizational initiatives through effective leadership, engagement, and cross-functional collaboration.

Required or Preferred Qualifications:


Education & Licensure
• Master’s degree required (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Studies or related clinical discipline)
• Current certification and licensure as an Advanced Practice Provider (NP or PA) (or eligibility based on state 
requirements)
Experience
• Minimum of 5–7 years of clinical experience as an APP
• Minimum of 3–5 years of leadership, supervisory, or program management experience
• Experience in multi-site or ambulatory care settings preferred
• Experience within urology, oncology, or specialty care preferred but not required

Pay Range: $180,000 - $200,000 annually 
 
Actual compensation offered to candidates is based on work experience, education, skill level, and geographic location. Compensation may vary depending on the state or region in which the position is located, in accordance with applicable laws.
