Position Summary


The Director of Advancement and Strategy will lead the development and implementation of a cohesive strategy encompassing fundraising, marketing, communications, and relationship cultivation to advance NGC's mission and ensure its sustainability. An important focus of this role will be building and nurturing strong fundraising relationships with both Tribal nations and individual donors in addition to stewarding and securing grants focused on NGC’s mission. The Director will be responsible for planning and executing fundraising initiatives targeted towards these key groups, while also leading efforts to enhance NGC's visibility, influence, and impact within the community and beyond, fostering a broad culture of philanthropy.

What You'll Be Doing:



  • Leading NGC's annual and long term plans for growth and sustainability through major giving, grants, earned revenue and other opportunities through a strategic lens

  • Overseeing marketing and communication strategies that strengthen the NGC brand and support fundraising efforts

  • Building relationships with stakeholders at all levels throughout and beyond our region, leveraging communication and engagement tools, be an advocate for NGC

  • Collaborating with program and finance teams to ensure alignment throughout all processes

  • Reporting results and strategies to the Board of Directors, Executive Director, and staff

  • Partnering with the leadership team to guide the organization through growth and develop policies to ensure the alignment with our values and mission

  • Other duties as assigned



What Skills You Need for Success:



  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build meaningful relationships with diverse stakeholders

  • A proven track record of generating new revenue streams and securing major funding and partnerships

  • Expertise in strategy development and best practices in non-profit marketing and communications

  • Ability to use various technology programs and tools, preferably experience with Salesforce or similar CRM software

  • Commitment to applying an Indigenous lens in all job functions



Compensation & Benefits



Salary: $105,000–120,000


Status: Full-time, exempt, salaried


Wellness benefits: NGC pays 100% of the cost of our wellness benefits, including health, dental, vision, life insurance, and short- and long-term disability. Employees, spouses, and children are eligible. 


Paid time off: Year 1-3 of employment, staff may accrue up to 216 hours (5.4 weeks) of PTO, to be used for sick and vacation time.


Paid holidays: 10 floating holidays (must be used in calendar year)


Paid closures: Paid office closure from Christmas Eve through New Year’s Day; Half day Friday from Memorial Day–Labor Day.


Workplace flexibility: We are a semi-remote work environment, but this position is Hybrid requiring time in the office. Staff are given a monthly stipend to offset any technology, home office, or shared workplace costs incurred.
