Director of Auxiliary Programming

Immediate Need

Merritt Academy is looking for a Director of Auxiliary Programming who is passionate about working with children and is excited about making a difference in their lives. During the Academic Year as the Director of Auxiliary Programming, this position manages year-round afternoon activities including scheduling activities and vendor relationships. You will also be responsible for developing the Intergenerational Program with Sunrise Senior Living Communities and other senior living communities in the area. The Director of Auxiliary Programming works with the Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) with events and other activities, handles event scheduling and logistics for events such as Teacher Work Days, First Day of School, the Annual Auction, etc. and manages relationships with the Afterschool Program schools and develops and oversees the onsite program.   

In the summers, the Director of Auxiliary Programming manages the Summer Camp Program. You will be responsible for creating a memorable and meaningful camp experience for Merritt Academy’s award-winning summer camp program. You will be responsible managing a team of around 40 camp counselors and are responsible for the hiring and supervision of the camp staff, field trip, pool and daily activity scheduling and coordination, managing the summer camp budget and all aspects of the camp program. You will also be responsible for approximately 170 students and providing a fun, safe and exciting camp experience and managing any issues that may arise including behavior issues and parent concerns.  

Requirements

In order to be considered for this position, you must meet the following requirements, including:

• A love for children and a strong desire to make a difference every day.
• Associates degree or equivalent experience.
• Experience working with K-8th grade children.
• Experience leading a team preferred.
• Must be physically able to lift and carry a minimum of 45 pounds, engage in physical activity with children, and work indoors or outdoors.
• Must be able to constantly move and interact with the children to provide stimulation and develop relationships.
• Must be able to alternate often between sitting and standing.
• Must be able to maintain sight and sound of the children at all times.
• CPR and First Aid certified or willingness to obtain.
• Medical Administration certified or willingness to obtain.
• Must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
• Pass pre-employment screenings and trainings as required.
