Position Summary
Provides leadership and oversight for Behavioral Health operations, ensuring alignment with the organization's mission, vision, and values. Directs and supports high-quality service delivery, staff development, performance management, and regulatory compliance, including HRSA and NCQA PCMH standards. Provides oversight of clinical services including supervision of direct services performed by therapists, peers and other clinical team members. Collaborates across departments to optimize patient experience, operational efficiency, and financial performance. Balances leadership duties with a reduced clinical caseload.
Responsibilities
· Provide clinical and administrative leadership to Behavioral Health Team to ensure high-quality care.
· Supervise behavioral health team members with monthly one-on-ones and annual performance evaluations.
· Oversee daily operations and lead planning for the behavioral health program.
· Ensure compliance with HCHC policies, best practices, and state and federal regulations.
· Build and lead an effective, motivated behavioral health team aligned with program goals.
· Participate in organizational meetings and contribute to planning, problem-solving, and educating.
· Develop, implement, and maintain behavioral health policies and procedures to meet regulatory and recognition standards.
· Oversee the creation and maintenance of client treatment plans and documentation, including assessments, summaries, and progress notes.
· Foster employee engagement and support workforce development.
· Perform additional duties as assigned.

· Knowledge of trauma-informed care, substance use treatment, and evidence-based mental health interventions.
· Ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders, including patients, staff, and community partners.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Ability to manage several projects efficiently.
· Experience in collaborative behavioral health services with primary care preferred
· Familiarity with HRSA requirements, FQHC regulations, and Medicaid/Medicare billing is optimal
Requirements
Education and Experience
· Master’s Degree in a mental health-related field is required.
· Current and unrestricted license to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Behavioral Health Nurse Practitioner or Licensed Clinical Psychologist. Cannot be sanctioned under Medicaid or Medicare. Maintains federal, state and professional licenses/qualifications to maintain scope of practice in Virginia.
· Minimum four years demonstrated experience providing program management, staff supervision, and leading multidisciplinary teams in a mental health related field is strongly preferred.
· Minimum of four years of demonstrated work experience providing services to culturally diverse populations and clients with complex on-going trauma, and actively suicidal clients. Experience with wide range of age groups preferred.
· Knowledge of and demonstrated ability to implement the following evidence-based models, Cognitive Behavioral therapy, Dialectical Behavior therapy and crisis intervention techniques.
· Preferred experience includes knowledge of and demonstrated ability in EMDR, ACT, Attachment therapy, Systems therapy, Family therapy and substance use treatment.
· Demonstrated participation in Supervisor training through the counseling or social work board.
· Previous experience working in a Community Health Center environment is preferred but not required.
