Job Description - Director of Business Development: United States Air Force/United States Space Force

Key Responsibilities:



  • Develop and implement a comprehensive business development strategy, aligned to Clarity’s business strategy and offerings, for appropriate USAF and USSF customers. This includes producing and updating Market Plans on a yearly basis. 

  • Stay informed about industry trends, market dynamics, and competitive landscape to inform business development strategies and decision-making pertinent to USAF and USSF markets and mission domains

  • Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and meetings to promote brand awareness and foster new connections

  • Leveraging market intelligence and customer insights, develop plans to drive marketing, IR&D, technology differentiation, workforce strategy, and partner engagement priorities

  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with key stakeholders across the USAF and USSF communities in order to advance Clarity’s growth objectives

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities, including prime contracts, subcontracts, IDIQ’s and the corresponding task orders, in alignment with company goals and capabilities.


    • Support and/or lead the capture process for strategic opportunities, as necessary, through proposal submission ensuring alignment with customer requirements and objectives

    • Develop content to include briefings (internal and external), customer presentations, and various process artifacts, to support opportunity identification and pursuit


  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Mission Vertical (Systems, Data, Cyber, Products) SMEs, the Proposal Operations Team, Capture Managers, and others to develop innovative solutions that address customer needs and differentiate our offerings.

  • Build, mature, and continuously improve a high-quality pipeline of opportunities spanning tactical and strategic opportunities for USAF and USSF markets


    • Be responsible and accountable for bookings goals and metrics established each year for USAF/USSF markets

    • Convert a growing percentage of pipeline into awarded work

    • Enhance Clarity’s brand recognition in these customer markets


  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and guidance to business development team members, portfolio and program managers, and others across Clarity, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.


Required Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree and/or minimum of 5 years of experience in business development, capture, program management and/or related roles within the Government or Government Contracting industry, with a focus on the USAF and USSF community



  • Proven track record of success in identifying, pursuing, and winning governmentcontracts and task orders



  • Strong network of contacts within the USAF and USSF community, spanning Government, Military and Industry partners

  • Operational or Technical knowledge of key missions areas within USAF and USSF

  • Deep understanding of the federal acquisition process, contract vehicles and standalone contract opportunities, as well as acquisition trends.



  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence senior-level stakeholders.



  • Strategic thinker with the ability to analyze market dynamics, develop account plans/strategies, identify opportunities, and support the proposal development process to drive business growth for Clarity.



  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and lead cross-functional teams to achieve common goals



  • Active Top Secret security clearance required, with current SCI eligibility


Desired Qualifications:



  • Master’s degree and/or minimum of 10 years of experience in business development, capture, program management and/or related roles within the government contracting industry, with a focus on the USAF and USSF communities. 

  • Previous military service in the USAF or USSF 

  • Proven track record of success in identifying, pursuing, and winning large-scale ($100M+) government contracts and task orders


In addition to salary, this position is eligible for Clarity’s Incentive Program
