Job Description - Director of Cage & Credit

SUMMARY: 


Responsible for ensuring that all accounting activities in the Cage/Credit Division is performed accurately and efficiently, in accordance with all applicable laws, rules and regulations of the Gaming Commission, Federal and State Police, and established policies, procedures and control.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:



  • Approves credit for guests within his/her limits of authority, ensures that the collection and distribution of necessary credit information is handled accurately, efficiently and discreetly.

  • Develops, implements and directs departmental procedures which enable the Cage/Credit Division to function more effectively.

  • Maintains adequate staffing levels by interviewing, selecting, training, scheduling, evaluating, assisting with career development, promoting, disciplining, and terminating employees, as needed.

  • Ensures the integrity of all financial data produced by employees under his/her span of control.

  • Monitors all financial activities on property, which relate to Cage/Credit Division to ensure that all applicable laws, rules, regulations and controls of the property, the Federal and State Police, and the Gaming Commission are enforced throughout the property.

  • Creates and administers departmental operating budget and budget controls.

  • Establishes production standards and goals, and regularly evaluates departmental progress, revising standards and goals as needed.

  • Coordinates the audits of bank boards, guest deposits and rotation logs, ensuring appropriate coverage on each bank, develops and fine-tunes an effective system of checks and balances.

  • Assists the Cage/Credit Manager and Cage/Credit Supervisors in understanding the complexities of certain aspects of their jobs.

  • Directs the necessary research to determine whether credit may be extended.

  • Reviews departmental reports, to ensure accuracy, making revisions as needed.

  • Ensures a maximum level of property-wide service and satisfaction, with respect to Cage/Credit Division is achieved and maintained.

  • Facilitates the flow of information throughout the property, by organizing and presiding over regularly scheduled meetings with all employees under his/her span of control.

  • Held accountable, to a very high degree, for the accuracy, confidentiality, and thoroughness of departmental records and reports.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:


Directly supervises the activities of the Cage and Credit Departments.


QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: 


To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:


Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration or related area, or four to six years related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.


SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:


Minimum of six (6) years in accounting, preferably in a banking operation, required.  Must possess excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills.  Must be extremely numbers-oriented and computer literate.  Minimum of three (3) years supervisory/managerial experience required.


This position requires a Level 2 Gaming License.


LANGUAGE SKILLS:


Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex of documents, such as technical journals, financial reports and legal documents.  Ability to write effective letters, memos, speeches. and articles for publication. Ability to respond to inquiries or complaints from staff members at all levels, guests, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.  Ability to effectively communicate in one-on-one, small group, and large group settings.  Ability to effectively present information to top management and public groups.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:


Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals, and work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.


REASONING ABILITY:


Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS: 


The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.


The employee may be required to stand, for long periods at the Cage/Credit counter, to assist employees under his/her span of control.


Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.


WORK ENVIRONMENT:


The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.


The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.  When on the casino floor, the noise level increases to loud.  A casino environment is typically smoky.
