Job Description - Director of Career Development and Planning Center

Essential Duties and Responsibilities*

Provides oversight for and strategic management of the Career Planning and Development Center with focus on the following areas:

Educational & Developmental Programming and Services

* Assists with all phases of planning and implementing programs and services to expand access and programming to students and recent alumni in St. Louis and the extended sites.* Oversees event planning and coordination of workshops/trainings/employer recruiting events by collaborating with campus and external stakeholders; May facilitate targeted programs or workshops.* Counsels students and recent alumni on career-related issues. Assesses needs and supports students in career exploration and career transition; assists students in all phases of the internship and job search process. Provides phone and/or web consultations to students and recent alumni outside of St. Louis. Serves as a liaison to specific School/College and/or to students who are undecided; documents appointment notes using an online career management system.* Administers and interprets career and personality assessments.

Partnerships

* Provides outreach programming to the University network; presents the Career Planning & Development Center's services to students and alumni, faculty members, and employers.* Supports cross-departmental collaborations especially with Academic Advising, the Academic Resource Center, other Student Affairs Departments, Admissions, Student Employment, faculty, and/or student organizations.* Coordinate the Edward Jones Scholarship Program* Represents the office on University committees and events, and/or at external committees/events.

Communications

* May manage and/or assist with managing the development and maintenance of the Career Planning & Development Center's internal and external websites.* May manage and/or assist with managing office marketing and communications through social media (Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter), targeted e-mail communication regarding services, programming, and special events through Constant Contact, and developing print promotional materials (information cards that outline office resources and services).* May manage and/or assist with the identification and/or creation of career development resources, videos, and/or social media posts that are utilized to inform stakeholders and promote the office's services and resources.

Assessment & Data Management

* Oversee the web and database resources to effectively provide internship and job posting information for students and alumni.* Assists with creating and analyzing surveys and/or assessments to evaluate office services, programs, etc.* Compiles data, administers surveys and analyzes information to complete comprehensive Annual Report that directly aligns office goals to the University's Strategic Plan.

Organizational Management

* Coordinates daily operations and provides overall direction of the department; office serves as a centralized service to all students throughout the Webster network of domestic and international campuses and students who are enrolled in Online Programs.* Supervises staff members and ensures that staff meet individual, departmental and organizational goals; recruits, hires and trains staff as openings occur.* Creates strategic plan for the office to align with the University strategic plan.* Oversees and manages the department budget.* Provides ongoing mentoring, training and performance feedback to staff.* Attends professional development workshops and conferences to keep apprised of developments in the field of career development.* Impacts the general image of the office and ensures that it presents a professional, competent image to a wide variety of constituent groups.* May hold leadership positions within professional associations if appropriate to role.* Acts within scope of practice and provides referral to other offices/services as needed.* Reviews current trends and information related to all aspects of career planning and the job search process
