Director of Catering

OVERVIEW:

Marriott Orlando Downtown is seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Catering to lead our catering operations and deliver exceptional event experiences. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of catering services, including planning, coordination, execution, and client relations. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in hospitality and event management, with a passion for excellence and innovation. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Qualifies business and tracks leads.


• Solicits and books meetings, conferences and catered corporate and social events.


• Finalizes and upsells catering arrangements for group business.


• Negotiates and markets to drive sales and create profits.


• Identifies customer needs and all sales opportunities which ensure successful catering events.


• Attends Local Networking events and tradeshows to drive catering efforts.


• Prospects new business for potential wedding, holiday parties, etc.


• Develops and Manages EMM position.


• Creates written and verbal presentations effectively.


• Meet with the Chef prior to function to verify arrangements and to observe the quality of the food presentation.


• Meet with clients to plan their functions and highlight features of facility as well as available services.


• Be available to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and varied shifts, as required to meet the needs of the Company’s business operations.


• Additional responsibilities as requested by leadership

REQUIREMENTS

• High school diploma or GED; 3 years experience in the event management or related professional area. 


• Previous experience in a full-service hotel preferred


• Prior Marriott International experience preferred
