THE ROLE

Chetola Resort is seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Catering Operations to oversee all banquet and catering events at the resort. This position is critical in ensuring exceptional service and memorable experiences for our guests through seamless event execution, strong leadership, and a passion for hospitality. This is an exciting opportunity for an operations-minded leader who thrives in high-energy environments, builds strong teams, and takes pride in creating moments that exceed guest expectations.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Event Execution & Guest Experience

  • Proactively solicit group business across multiple market segments
  • Lead catering and banquet operations for all events across the resort
  • Conduct pre-event meetings to align teams around event expectations and timelines
  • Ensure event setup and execution meet client specifications and Chetola standards
  • Provide exceptional customer service during events, addressing any guest needs in real time
  • Oversee food and beverage delivery and alcohol service in accordance with safety and ABC regulations

Team Leadership & Support

  • Represent the resort to clients with professionalism, warmth, and deep product knowledge
  • Support seamless communication between clients and on-property departments to ensure exceptional experiences
  • Collaborate closely with the Director of Sales to shape and execute annual sales strategies and marketing initiatives
  • Work cross-functionally with the Front Office and Marketing teams to develop and promote group offerings

Operations & Financial Oversight

  • Utilize property management and sales systems to manage leads, bookings, and client details
  • Provide reporting on account activity and key performance metrics
  • Support the development of sales materials and promotional tools

Requirements

  • A hospitality professional with a deep appreciation for detail, service, and guest satisfaction
  • Adept at managing people and logistics in fast-paced environments
  • Comfortable balancing big-picture oversight with hands-on execution
  • Collaborative, solutions-oriented, and committed to excellence

REQUIREMENTS

  • Previous experience in banquet or catering operations in a hotel, resort, or event venue
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Understanding of food safety standards, sanitation practices, and NC ABC liquor laws
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, and lift items throughout the duration of events
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Familiarity with cost control strategies and service profitability
