TITLE: Director of Coaching
POSITION STATUS: Full Time
FLSA STATUS: Exempt
LOCATION: Indianapolis, IN
REPORTS TO: CEO
WORK SCHEDULE: Monday – Friday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This position will be primarily Monday-Friday with some weekends as the facility gets up to speed and then tapers off as it develops.

ABOUT THE POSITION:
A leader with strong on court and off court skills who believes that tennis has the ability to change lives and build healthier communities. A strategic thinker with the ability to elevate the USTA Midwest coaching program to be the model of excellence around the U.S. An experienced clinician who has the ability to lead workshops and invigorate all levels of the tennis coaching space in the Midwest.
THE ROLE:
- Execute National coaching strategy at the section and district levels
- Lead the recruitment of new community coaches while maintaining a strong retention rate among current coaches within the USTA Midwest section.
- Foster a thriving coach community through mentorship programs and networking opportunities.
- Work in close partnership with USTA National staff to ensure local efforts align with national priorities
- Design and implement robust community coaching development programs
- Create and implement workshops for wheelchair and adaptive tennis
- Seek opportunities to engage Conquer Paralysis Now clients in tennis play
- Develop and implement workshops aimed at supporting the growth and inclusion of coaches
- Establish opportunities for continuing education for more advanced coaches
- Develop and execute growth strategies aimed at expanding community coaching membership and improving coaching standards across the Midwest Section
- Maintain the National Coaches Learning Management System (LMS) for the Midwest Section
- Manage professional tennis staff at the USTA Midwest Tennis Center
- Work with the USTA Midwest Tennis Center Manager to maintain a safe, welcoming, and professional environment at the Midwest Tennis Center
- Responsible for collaborating with appropriate USTA Midwest programming teammates and
developing initial programming and managing court sheet for USTA Midwest Tennis Center
- Performs all work duties and activities by company policies and procedures; follows safety policies and practices; works safely; and reports unsafe activities and conditions
- Provide on court teaching/coaching
- Other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS
- Certified in PTR or RSPA professional - Preferred
- High school diploma is Required
- Strong knowledge and passion of tennis delivery - Required
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills - Required
- CPR Certified and AED knowledgeable within the first 30 days of hire - Required
- Proven experience in teaching coaching and program management - Required
- Strong knowledge of tennis coaching techniques and player development principles - Required
- Excellent working knowledge and understanding of tennis rules and strategies - Required
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills - Required
- Ability to multitask and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment - Preferred
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle complex situations - Preferred
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends as needed.
- Leadership abilities with a focus on team development - Preferred
- Knowledge of Club Automation - Preferred
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Exposure to noise from on court play
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
TRAVEL
Travel required less than 10%
