AlphaHire is partnering with a fast-growing renewable energy organization to identify a Director of Construction to build and lead a high-performance, in-house construction organization. This is a newly created leadership role and is currently the company’s top operational priority.
This role is ideal for a construction leader who has scaled teams inside a solar EPC, electrical contracting, or infrastructure-driven construction environment, and who wants real ownership over how a national construction organization is built and run.
About the Role
The Director of Construction will be responsible for designing, building, and managing internal construction teams while driving consistency, safety, quality, and delivery across a growing national project portfolio. This is a hands-on leadership role — not a third-party oversight position.
You will work closely with executive leadership and operations to introduce best practices, improve construction processes, and expand capacity as project volume continues to grow.
This role is physically based in the local MN office and requires regular engagement with internal teams and project sites.
Key Responsibilities
Build, lead, and scale an internal construction organization, including hiring, training, and performance management
Own construction scheduling, resource planning, and capacity design to support national project delivery
Ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to quality standards
Implement and enforce safety, quality control, and compliance programs
Oversee construction costs, scopes, and execution in collaboration with project management
Manage subcontractors and vendors where applicable, while maintaining internal execution ownership
Lead project kick-off and close-out processes
Communicate regularly with customers, internal stakeholders, and leadership on project status
Introduce operational best practices and process improvements drawn from prior EPC or infrastructure experience
Prior experience scaling construction teams within a solar EPC, electrical contracting, electrical infrastructure, or general contracting environment
Exposure to regional or national construction organizations (solar preferred, but not required)
Direct experience building and managing in-house construction teams (not solely managing third-party contractors)
Strong understanding of construction operations, scheduling, permitting, interconnection, and compliance
Proven ability to lead in fast-growth, high-accountability environments
Strong communication, decision-making, and problem-solving skills
