Job Title: Developmental Disabilities Agency Director

Department: DDA

Reports To: FCMC Executive Team Member

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Hours: 40/week 

Shift: Days

A non-profit critical access hospital, we house 20 beds in our acute care facility and 35 beds in our nursing facility. With three operating rooms, a procedure room, and advanced technology, we provide excellent care for our surgical patients. Our recently constructed 24,000 square feet medical office provides valuable access, accommodations, and services to the community. WHAT YOU CAN DO FOR FCMC

Our DDA Director supervises the operation of both the adults’ and children’s Developmental Disabilities Agency programs. This fulfilling role positively impacts the lives of those with disabilities and the personnel who work with them directly. Some of this position’s vital responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing all operations, policies, procedures, and service elements
  • Participating in the agency’s quality assurance program and assisting in program growth through marketing 
  • Working and collaborating with community members such as school personnel, Elks Lodge members, and others
  • Handling emergencies such as medical emergencies and participant crises
  • Completing or obtaining participant assessments and plans according to the authorized plan of service
  • Documenting in a timely manner

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Providing personnel direction, procedural guidance, and monthly supervision of work to ensure programs are implemented as written
  • Demonstrating by example the skills needed to provide high-quality services
  • Training staff in all medical procedures as necessary
  • Providing and ensuring the ongoing training of Direct Service Providers (DSPs) when there are circumstances that impact services, including adjustments to the plans of service and the physical, medical, and behavioral statuses of participants
  • Managing the Habilitative Support staff by implementing Support Programs as they work with their specific client; this may include providing monthly face-to-face visits with staff to ensure the proper level of care is being delivered
  • Organizing the schedules of paraprofessionals to coordinate with client hours

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or related field (master’s or doctorate degrees are preferred)
  • Current Basic Life Support, First Aid, and Assistance with Medications certifications
  • Two years of experience working with people with disabilities in a supervisory or administrative role
  • Current driver’s license
  • Experience with Behavior Management Training (Applied Behavior Analysis or similar)
  • Proficiency in faxing, emailing, and Google Suites
  • Proficiency with or the ability to learn FCMC’s electronic medical record, equipment, and other technologies
  • A service-minded work ethic with a drive to meet client care needs and a positive attitude when faced with ambiguity and change
  • Ability to interact effectively with people from widely differing backgrounds
  • Good communication skill, both written and oral, in English
  • Interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
  • Organizational skills, time management skills, and attention to detail
  • A strong ability to analyze and problem solve
  • The ability to remain calm in challenging situations and serve as a role model for participants and other personnel

Essential Job Functions:

  • This is a safety-sensitive position
  • Regular and predictable attendance is required
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods
  • Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms that may be full of equipment or tripping hazards
  • Must be able to access and navigate throughout the department within the organization’s facilities
  • Must be able to see and read information labels, assess client needs, and identify or operate equipment and supplies
  • Must have manual dexterity of hands and fingers required to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy, such as typing on a keyboard
  • Must be able to hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, especially during emergencies
  • Must comply with HIPAA and patient privacy
  • Must wear PPE as situations require 

Work Environment:

  • FCMC operates 24 hours per day each day of the year: operational needs of departments may require that you be available to work all shifts, weekends, and holidays to meet the needs of the patients
  • Potential exposure to blood, body tissue, fluids, contagious diseases, and hazardous waste
  • Occasional exposure to bodily injury, loud or unpleasant noise, unpleasant odor, and emotional or physical stress
