The Catholic Education Foundation (CEF) is one of the fastest growing and successful nonprofits in the region. The CEF provides scholarships for children from low-income families so they can attend Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas. The Director of Development is responsible for creating and implementing a comprehensive fundraising plan, including identifying, cultivating, and soliciting major gifts and directing the annual giving campaign. This position is full-time, will average 40 hours per week, with the opportunity for a flexible work schedule. This position is hybrid, with work completed in the office and remotely.
Duties and Responsibilities
Develop and implement annual fundraising campaign for major giving and annual giving.
Research, identify, cultivate and solicit major and annual giving donors.
Coordinate successful donor appreciation and informational gatherings to promote giving opportunities and thank donors.
Assist in the promotion of a new planned giving program.
Track and report donor cultivation activities and progress using donor database.
Analyze fundraising results and make recommendations for improvement.
Assist with board and staff meetings.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills including with C-suite level individuals.
Polished interpersonal skills (sales, presentation) in group and individual settings.
Build and maintain strong collaborative relationships.
Highly organized in managing tasks and projects; detail oriented.
Ability to speak authentically about the benefits of Catholic education.
Knowledge of the donor cultivation cycle.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Nonprofit Administration or related field is preferred.
Minimum of five (5) years of relevant work experience in professional fundraising or corporate sales is required.
Direct experience raising major gifts, securing sponsorships and leading fundraising campaigns.
Experience recruiting and training volunteer leaders including board members and committee chairs.
Intermediate skill level in MS Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Previous experience with donor database software is preferred.
Practicing Catholic in good standing is preferred.
