Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s Degree

Experience:

• Minimum four years development and donor relations experience, including annual campaigns
• Familiarity with fundraising/donor database software.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Outlook
• Strong organizational, administrative, telephone, and interpersonal communication skills; detail oriented
• Self-motivated, a team player, and able to respond to multiple demands
• Knowledge of tax laws that impact charitable giving, personal assets, and estates
• This position requires the ability to participate in all aspects of the gift cycle: to initiate contacts with potential donors; to develop appropriate cultivation strategies for them; to move potential donors in an appropriate and timely fashion toward solicitation and closure; to make solicitations when appropriate and facilitate the solicitations of agency leadership and Board members; and to maintain stewardship contact with donors. To achieve these goals, the successful candidate will have:
• Ability to understand the needs and interests of donors and prospects with regard to CCFCS programs and mission in order to develop and foster the relationship between them and CCFCS;
• Ability to qualify donors that represent the highest giving potential;
• Ability to create reasonable financial goals for each donor, based on giving history and potential;
• Ability to create a personal contact and ask plan that takes into account the individual donor’s interest, motivations, giving patterns, and ask preferences for each donor on the Targeted Prospect List in a timely and cost-effective manner, and retain and upgrade donors;
• Ability to secure project and organization information and create and write effective offers, proposals, and asks, and to secure information that can be sent back to donors to report on how their money was used.

About the role: 

Reporting to the Chief Development Officer, the Director of Development is responsible for the oversight and growth of CCFCS’s annual giving strategy, including corporate partnership and direct mail programs and events. Working closely with the Chief, the Director acts as the strategic lead for CCFCS’s annual Direct Mail and Corporate Giving campaigns along with the planning and execution of signature fundraising and donor recognition events. The Director will develop and implement strategies designed to increase annual giving donations through targeted appeals and corporate partnerships. The Director will supervise the Donor Relations Manager as well as the Development Coordinator. This individual must be able to work independently while also working as a member of CCFCS’s Development and Marketing teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Development and execution of annual direct mail program
• Strategy and growth of corporate partnership program
• Expansion and cultivation of CCFCS’s annual donor base with a focus on recurring monthly donors, annual appeal donors, and corporate partnerships
• Provides supervision, guidance and executes the duties common to all supervisory positions to include but not limited to:
• Regularly meets with direct reports.
• Completes annual performance appraisals.
• Regularly monitors performance and providing appropriate feedback.
• Maintain current and acquire new Corporate Partners and implement incentives and benefits outlined in program according to their giving levels
• Increased donor level portfolio to include higher level individual and corporate donors
• Oversee and plan all special events including signature fundraising events, i.e. Luncheon, Empty Bowls, donor recognition and all other events, etc.
• Recognition and stewardship of annual donors including but not limited to phone calls, emails, anniversary cards, donor listings, signs and events
• Identify for the Chief Development Officer, top prospects with high giving capacity and shown affinity to the organization
• Provide regular status updates as well as donor and prospect information to the Chief Development Officer
• Prepare written content for department materials including but not limited to the annual report, agency blog, and digital newsletters, Corporate Partnership program
• Active participation in Development’s strategic planning
• Manage financial budgets for responsible campaign initiatives
• Evaluate financial data to determine progress and actions needed
• Brainstorm solutions and new ideas for continued growth
• Awareness of and active support of the Agency's Mission, Vision, Values and Strategic Plan. Including, but not limited to, supporting the Agency's Core Competency initiatives of being Collaborative and Community Focused, Innovative and Entrepreneurial, and Culturally Competent and Diverse
• Participates in relevant Agency meetings and/or trainings
• Actively pursues development of professional competencies related to job role performance through reading, supervision, in-service training and attendance at conferences and workshops.
• Other duties as assigned
