Director of Dietary Services

Bayside Care Center and Casa De Flores in Morro Bay is seeking a Director of Dietary services to join our nutritional services team. You will be responsible for delivering high quality care to assigned residents to two facilities.

As the facility's dietary manager, you will be responsible for ensuring that quality food service and nutritional care is provided at all times. You will also be responsible for planning, organizing, developing and directing the overall operation of the dietary department in accordance with current applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines/regulations, and the facility's established policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities Include:

• Assist Registered Dietician in providing nutritional screening and assessment of      patients for appropriate nutrition preferences.
• Conducts audits and/or menu reviews, and ensures patient menus or supplemental feedings are appropriate based on physician's orders for individual patients to include size, age, gender, cultural backgrounds, preferences, diagnosis, pain level, and religious practices.
• Document in the medical records as appropriate.
• Manage the activities/ employees in the food service department to insure quality and accuracy of the food served to the patients.
• Complete and maintain sanitation audits/ expectations. 
• Food purchasing and adhering within assigned budget. 
• Writes assessments, implements nutritional care plans, and follows the care and progress of the patients per protocol.
• Perform other related duties as necessary.
• May provide in-service training to staff.
• Supervisory Responsibilities: May mentor, assist, review, assign, correct, organize and/or coordinate the work of new employees.
• Demonstrated strong communication, interpersonal and customer service skills required.
• Demonstrated collaboration and problem solving skills required.
• Demonstrated knowledge of applicable federal, state and local regulations.

$35-$40 an hour DOE

Experience:

• Skilled Nursing Facility: 1 year (Preferred)
• Dietary  Manager: 1 year (Preferred)

• Preferred Six (6) months of supervisory experience in dietary management in an acute or long term care environment
• Knowledgeable of dietary department procedures as well as related laws, regulations and guidelines pertaining to long term care

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Must be willing to complete CDM program within 6 months of hire.
