Job Description - Director of Early Stage Programs

Director of Early Stage Programs



The Director of Early- Stage Programs at IMCC is part of a team that interfaces with the participants and their care partners, IMCC early-stage program staff, IMCC leadership team, as well as developing partnerships within the community. This position will oversee current early-stage programs, as well as develop and implement new programs for participants with MCI and early-stage dementia and their care partners. This position will support the organization to expand its mission and fulfill its vision of those affected by memory impairments achieving the highest quality of life. The Director of Early-Stage Programs will directly supervise the Early-Stage Program Manager. This position reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer.



Education



  • Graduation from college with a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Gerontology, Psychology, Health Services, or related field. Master’s degree preferred.



Experience



  • Experience in working with individuals with early-stage dementia and their families, developing partnerships with other organizations, supervising a team, public speaking, group facilitation, and recreation.

  • Experience in long-term care settings or Adult Day Health Care services preferred.

  • Extensive experience in dementia and various other types of memory impairments required (4 years minimum).





Physical Demands



  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend and squat for prolonged periods; Ability to push and pull objects and lift and carry up to 20 pounds, unassisted, on a frequent basis (occasionally up to 50 pounds); Full use of gross and fine motor skills of the upper and lower extremities (i.e., typing on a keyboard, use of a computer, mailings, etc.); Ability to drive a vehicle and navigate effectively in service region.

Must be able to execute the terms and conditions set forth in the Insight Memory Care Center Employee Handbook, including, but not limited to:



  1. Works in a safety-conscious manner which ensures that safe work practices are used in order not to pose a risk to self or others in the workplace. Reports any safety violations or hazards to supervisor.

  2. Complies with company policies and procedures and local, state, and federal regulations.

  3. Adheres to policy on Drug-Free Workplace.

  4. Interacts in a tactful, diplomatic, and humanistic manner with participants, families, visitors, and co-workers to provide a safe, efficient, and therapeutically effective caring environment which ensures the self-respect, personal dignity, rights and physical safety of each participant and facility guest.

  5. Maintains a dependable attendance record and adheres to standards of cleanliness, grooming, hygiene, and dress code.

Insight Memory Care Center is a 501(c) 3 nonprofit whose mission is to provide specialized care, support and education for individuals with Alzheimer's disease and other memory impairments, their families, caregivers, and the community through our adult day health and resource center. Serving Northern Virginia since 1984, IMCC offers a spectrum of holistic care, education and support, with a vision of a community where those affected by memory impairments can achieve the highest quality of life. IMCC also provides a safe and therapeutic environment for people in all stages of dementia. A vital part of IMCC is providing a well-rounded therapeutic recreation program that meets the physical, cognitive and social needs of each participant.
